2024–25 Australian Domestic Season

I'm actually quite pleased for him. That sort of horror run must really be rough mentally.
Yeah I've ended up with a soft spot for Bancroft just because I think he's the lesser of two evils compared to Harris, but even beyond that he's clearly a much much better domestic cricketer than what had happened so far this season and the golden duck to start the game would have been particularly rough on him.

Really hope this is the start of a breakout for Kellaway.
Said it earlier here, but I really liked the way he went about his innings this time around, seemed to be a little more proactive with some of his shot selection especially early on

Not sure if there is anything in it with opening vs batting 3, either way though it was good to see him get that FC ton out of the way

Tim Ward with 70 not to back up 92 in the first dig just to remind his home State they never picked him even while they constantly got rolled in less than a days play for about three seasons in a row

There's one thing that peeves me about Richardson's bowling aside from the constant injuries. It's that when the ball's not really swinging he often bowls back of a length, like he's trying to bowl like Cummins. I've felt for a while we could use a guy who actually targeted the stumps, and since he can swing it both ways he should be able to manipulate the seam to get it to nip both ways. If you idolise Dayle Steyn, well why not bowl like him when you have the skills to do so?

Just realised that Hunt's 27, almost. Has anyone ever gone onto a decent test career when averaging 33 domestically at this age?

I'll have to go poking around the stats of older players, but I find it concerning that players are only managing to get their averages up to the mid 30s when they're 27 or so.

Hunt shouldn't be in contention. Had a horrible 12 months before the recent form turnaround. Needs another 12 months. If Bancroft gets another score next shield round ide bring him in for the 3rd test unless marnus really turns things around.

Yeah it'd be some turnaround for Bancroft's season but it's how I'd play it. Give Marnus one more and reassess after that - hope either Marnus remembers how to hit it off the square or Bancroft goes big again. If neither of those things play out then just open with Ben Manenti.

KPat is arguably the most TECHNICALLY PROFICIENT top order player outside the test squad

I have far more confidence in him than in Harris, Bancroft or Renshaw as he’s POTENTIALLY a good test batsman whereas the others will never be
