How do you move Stoinis, the Stars most prolific and successful opening batsman, to number 5? And open with Harper and Rogers instead? ****ing dumb.
He bats 5 for aus and has batted 4/5 for the stars and in the IPL most often the past two years.

I'm really excited to see how the gades go this season. They've got a good mix of experience and exciting young players in the batting and bowling.

Yeah you may have a point in regards to the BBL. Ipl is a bit different cause there's that many Indian players who can open that stoinis brings more value in the middle order.
My view is that Stoinis as a middle order bat just doesn't have a place in T20 cricket. They keep trying to force him into that role but he's always been a guy who really needs those first 10-15 balls to play himself in and often take it slow early on, as his best innings will show

In internationals he's just not good enough to be a middle-order bat, and at Big Bash level he's too good not to be opening when he's so much better there than the likely alternatives.

Picking him to bat at 5 in the Big Bash, a tournament where he can make 80 to 100+ scores and single-handedly win games opening, is even dumber than picking him in the Aus ODI side

Stoinis is one of the best middle order bats in T20i cricket right now. He's definitely good enough to do it. You get the occasional knock where he eats up 15 balls at a sub 100 SR then holes out but most of the time he smashes it.

Good to see some West Aussies getting a berth with the Stars. It would be difficult to slot Paris, Cartwright and Coulter-Nile into the Scorchers line-up.
