Can Bancroft and Goodwin please get out in successive deliveries so I can watch green and whiteman both make 200s and chase this down with ease. Please and thank you.

Alpha Beau webster: 2 metres tall. 10, 3-30, 100, 1-2 so far this game. Gun slipper. Bowls pace and spin.

Beta Cameron green: 1.98 metres tall. 1-14, 6 and 1-78 so far this game. Can't field at slip.s9 has to field at gully. Only bowls pace.

Beau webstet should be going to nz.

Going to be astonishing if they get back on at the scg. Massive storm has rolled in here.

This logic is rock solid

tbh I've always thought that despite everything Cameron Green exudes beta vibes

He's not inherently beta, more just the fact that beau webster is clearly better and a clean 2 metres tall, while green is only 1.98 metres. It's like being 5 11 vs 6 foot to most women. I can provide a graphic if you want for reference.

Deck has flattened the **** out this game, but I think greens limited sample goes to show exactly what everyone knew already. He's had 3 innings this season, made 96, copped a dodgy lbw early and now 83* looking set for a ton. If he doesn't make runs at test level soon idk what to do, don't think a shield stint is what he needs.

he's only just back into the test side at #4 tbf to him, he needs more time in the position. Will be clearer after the tour of NZ

So we all know that Warner has retired, Smith is the new opener and Renshaw is the backup

However, Renshaw has been terrible since Christmas and lucky still to have a Queensland spot

Who would you pick as the backup?

Can be based upon current form (https://www.espncricinfo.com/record...st-runs-career/sheffield-shield-2023-24-15667), gut feeling or whatever

Feel free to ignore the selectors

1. McDermott - solid technique with attacking ability and can play in various positions

2. Bancroft - can’t do anymore with s/r his biggest weakness

3. Maddog - huge talent

4. Jewel - looks a good player to me

5. Hardie - solid bat who can also bowl

The problem with all bar Bancroft is that they haven’t had an extended period of success but I honestly can’t rank Renshaw, Harris or JFM in the top 5 contenders

Honestly, if mad dog strings together another hundred or two I wouldn't mind him in the test squad. At his best he's good enough to be there.

i think they should send him to county to test him against different bowlers and a different environment

I like Whiteman but that won't happen.

I still prefer Renshaw to the other options. Bad Shield form but it's been a minefield, he's made good Shield runs before and his recent outings for Aus A and other similar teams have been gun.

I'm not a big believer in changing the reserve batsman based on what's happened in domestic cricket in the past five minutes. Domestic performances are important but I take a more long term view of them than caring too much about about "form" unless someone has visibly improved, got the yips or had a particular flaw exposed.

Looks like another player is going to be lost to AFL. I thought Parker looked promising in his limited appearances but he got leapfrogged by Warren (and arguably Murphy too) and the lack of spin friendly pitches won't have helped.

This is so plainly the correct thing to do that it baffles me that it hasn't happened
Didn't CA try to get him a few games as a specialist bat around the time we toured sri lanka? Thought I heard county sides where only interested in him at the time as an allrounder, not a specialist bat. Could have that wrong.
