Anwar has been the most consistent performer even if his average doesn't show it.
I think his average is fine, I just can't decide if I should pick who the next best opener is (Anwar), or should I go with the next best RHB to give a L/R opening combination?

Edit: Sehwag it is.

Boon , considering the opposition he faced ie West Indian pace quartet .(+Ambrose/Walsh ) more than any others on seamier pitches.

It was between Gooch and Haynes for me. I chose Gooch since he faced Windies and did well.

Haynes, did better against Australia by the way.

We've already established that Boon shouldn't really be considered as an opener..

Says who :@

Since 1986, Strauss has opened 58 times, Boonie opened 59 times, while Vaughan has opened 60 times....I suppose those two can't be considered openers either...

However, Boon batted at 3 in over twice as many innings, which suggests he's more of a number 3 and he'd be better suited to list of number 3s (which I gather you're probably going to do). Whereas Strauss has opened for his whole Test career.

The fact is that Boon now has 3 votes between the two polls, which is more than half of the other openers nominated (btw, I couldn't bring myself to vote for him with Haydon, Sehwag, Anwar & Slats ahead of him, but I still think he should be included).
