In one respect I get what you mean. But Ali is only being used to help rotate the other bowlers....something Denly or Root could have done just as well (probably even better - bearing in mind Root outbowled him during his last 2 bowling spells).

Well he played brilliantly last summer and it isn't that bad out there, tough but not impossible if you have a bit of ticker.

Points are only deducted at the end of the Test after they calculate all the allowable delays

It's calculated at the end of the Test (i think seperate overrates for each innings but not sure) and there are plenty of allowances built in for things like batsmen faffing about, injuries, lost ball, time burned using DRS, etc.

Nothing to worry about yet.
