It is a pretty daft rule so I expect ***** to pop up any time to defend it with a word salad.

Not sure how I feel about it. I feel like England and Australia have produced the most well regarded umpires historically so it's pretty funny that the most prestigious series, the ashes, can't get the top-tier umpires adjudicating it.

However Pakistan umpires in the 80s and even Aussie umpires in the 90s(against SL especially) seemed to show that neutral umpires are important. Even if the umpires feel they're not being bias it won't stop the accusations if they're seen to be favouring one side

I think you saw a different article to Spikey tbh.

lol so much triggering

im not discounting the ashes you sensitive zoraxes, im saying his good ashes series at home has inflated australian perceptions of his worth

idgaf what he would have done if not for gilchrist either, because it's all (exceptionally biased) speculation on your part.

one last note, sanga kept to murali on these bunsens everyone uses to discredit his superior bowling record to warne, the guy could keep.

i didn't read the rest because i get the picture, you think he was better than he really was.
Yeah, but I mean you mentioned Watling. I mean, come on.

He was underused in ODIs too. Spent most of his career as a no.7 when he was at his best as an opener. If it wasn't for Hayden/Waugh/Gilchrist holding the spots he would have been in the ODI side as a batsman alone from around 2000-2007

All well and good but as a couple have mentioned now, he missed most of his peak years as understudy to Gilchrist, and played most of his Test cricket when he was past his best.
i look forward to being convinced wicketkeeper batsmen peak at 25. haddin debuted at 30, that's pretty much prime time perfect for a test standard player to debut and hit the ground running with their best.

watlings clearly better. it's not close, as much as it hurts the sensitive west islanders.

old people tend to get obsessed with one or two things and say them over and over. benaud loved his symonds be there at the end story, and now chappell has his #3 thing.

Are you referring to your own Watling obsession here?

Look, why are you posting here anyway when you’re from one of the lesser nations?

I endorse all of Flem's posts about Haddin and Watling. Would you like to see my Australian passport or my British one?

Why would you think I place any store in your views on this, Cribbeh?

Typical of Cribb to be neither one thing nor another. Comes of having never knowing responsibility in life .

Haddin's shyteness with the gloves shouldn't be discounted here. The glovework that launched a million Bad Handlin' memes.

Genuinely think he was closer to Gilly as a batsman than a keeper.

As much as I think Paine's current average has been blown out by NOs, I don't think Australia would gain much overall from peak Haddin.

So far the precedent in this match is that we do better when I'm not watching, so I think a collapse should be expected now, because I am.
