That's because cricket holds itself to ridiculously low ground fielding standards. Hitting top of off stump is a far far smaller margin of error than hitting 2 stumps.
Bowling is a rehearsed movement repeated almost exactly over and over again. Same starting point, same release point, same speed, same rhythm

Not the same as fielding where the situation, speed, timing and position is different every time, and where you're reacting rather than executing.

Part of the problem is the lack of pause in a lot of cases. Cricket fielders just get rid of the ball at odd angles, vs say baseball where they will pause often to set themselves. Burns could have paused slightly before that and set himself but his instinct was to pick and and spin/release at the same moment.

Smith is quite simply a batsman at a different level. It is not unfathomable to think that it would have been a 3 day match if not for him.

Most situations it would be even, perhaps slightly favouring England but without Anderson + Smith factor think Aus are ahead 60-40

3 days in and neither side has really pulled ahead yet. Steve Smith is still out there and if Aus can get this lead up to 200, they'll fancy their chances

Really good game so far.

If (when) Smith gets twin tons, this will become the most impactful/best/glorious match performance I've seen.

Baffling that anyone could consider Australia favourites with a lead of 34. The weather app now showing thundery showers from 2pm tomorrow.

Moeen could be losing his place unless he starts bowling better. Leach would give more control and is probably a better bat right now.

Yeah, his bowling has been poor this match. Unless he bowls amazingly tomorrow (or scores runs in the 2nd innings), it wouldn't be unjustified to replace him with Leach now, though I imagine he'll be given the next game anyway
