well, yeah, because rahane called him through for the run. it's not like he just teared off of his own accord, it was rahane's call, rahane called him through and kohli acceded.

like if if had gone to square cover or something then i would get the argument that kohli took off prematurely. but it went to mid-off. the situation was entirely in rahane's control.

I think Kohli may actually have not tried to get back because he expected Rahane to sacrifice himself. At least a 3rd umpire job if he tried.
