Sorry OS

Should have clarified my post, it was just people speculating online, again no proper journalists or anything. I'd be very surprised if that was true really, just trying to make sense of it really.
Didn't mean to make it sound like I was blaming you for that

1. Didn't think about such a scenario. But I suppose you restrict the possibilities a bit to say between 40th and 60th percentiles of what was possible in case you only get one over. For 5 over, my be the possibilities are limited to 10th and 90th percentiles
...
Now you're talking perfect sense mate. Yes, I always thought this is exactly how the professional edition works.

@Ankit:

Actually no, what I had in mind is slightly different (but not vastly different). Maybe they don't calculate from %ile. They probably use a multiplication factor on par (i.e. mean, not 50%ile). If after the interruption, the batting team gets x overs (in our case 5) out of y overs (in our case 12) remaining, and the performace in those x overs is par*m (maybe m=1.55 in our case?) they probably adjust it to something close to

par+{par*(m-1)*(x/y)} for y overs. [i.e. par*1.23 for example]

[And then back-calculate the 43 over target for the team batting 2nd in the usual way (assuming team 1's 50 over score is 38-over score + par*1.23 for last 12)]

This is how I always thought it works; and with that asumption I've never been surprised by a revised target in case of 1st innings interruptions. But obviously, Professional Edition isn't pubic knowledge - so that's only my guess.

Totally gutted to be honest.

The selectors need to give answers to be honest, some bad decisions. And some South African "supporters" (not here) use to question the role of Kallis in the ODI team.

Yeah, Kallis' importance is truly realised in his absence. I had him in my top 10 odi players in the exercise we are doing on cw currently.

Dropping a guy who averaged 14 with an econ of 4 over 4 games in the tournament is the reason why SA lost this game.

I blame
a) SL for passing on the infection and
b) Viriya for saying Proteas would take the cup from here after beating SL.

dont think NZers have to hugely readjust or do anything totally different from the way they have been playing. It's not like the final is in the sub continents all of a sudden

Ground is gonna be much bigger though. Quite a big adjustment.

If NZ loses the final I hope the NZ fans here don't try to paint it as "it was a great run, we did our best".. cos winning a semifinal isn't enough this time.

Congratulations to New Zealand, the best team won no doubt about that. Bazza has played a thoroughly entertaining brand of Cricket to lead his team to their first final, well deserved.

South Africa looked very up and down all tournament, if they had won today it would have been a bit of a travesty given both teams resoective form throughout the tournament!

The BCs are not the ABs. With the ABs there is an expectation we will win cos we are the dominant team.

As a BC fan I'm just enjoying the ride. We are playing good cricket. We've got the whole country behind us. Just go out there and play hard and enjoy yourselves on the biggest cricket stage in the world.

Yea but getting to the final just to lose to Aus is not something I'd sign up for.
