The greatest one day batsman in the history of the world, the best chaser ever (OMG, remember that chase of 320 against Sri Lanka in JAMODI in Australia?) failing in in must win Knockout in an ICC tournament? You don't say.

Had a good World Cup albeit nothing standout (but looked good in each knock, got out in really ****** manner in each game), but yes - this series of scores in key games should count against his status as one of the best ODI batsmen of all time. I think it's safe to say that as a result (until next WC), he simply cannot reach that status.

Henry has been absolutely spot on today
He's done the one good thing he does well very well this tournament. Just bowl in the channel with a bit of zip and exploit the seam movement on offer. Still doesn't like roads or getting hit off a length or left handers, but if he's in good rhythm will happily bowl there to the right hander all day.

These two have barely played any odis in the recent past. This was always the danger with India's terrible handling of the middle order situation. Two n00bs will have to pull off a miracle in a high pressure wc game.

Geez what a start! Thought we did well with the bat this morning and 240 was never going to be an easy chase at all, but this has been amazing so far.

Stop being such credulous fools guys.

This WC has obv. been rigged by CSK Srinivasan to buy low sell high on Ms. Dhoni Pvt Equity Ltd.

Dhoni should have come in at 5 surely.
If I were to make sense of this move, I would say they sent Pant at 4 as usual because he's a lefty and can put the bowlers off their line, while Karthik has a lot of experience opening the batting at various levels, and is comfortably better at playing swing than MSD.

You'd also rather have MSD marshal the likes of Pandya and Jadeja towards the end of the chase than Karthik.

So I can see reasons for it. Not saying it's the right move, but there is some reasoning behind it.
