ACT vs VICTORIA

ACT made their VB cup debuts against a strong Victorian outfit. In what turned out to be a very disapointing game for the Comets, they fought hard and were simply out classed on the day.
Victoria batted first on a fairly decent deck and started quite well. Matthew Elliott started like a house on fire scoring some very quick runs. Victoria also lost a few qucik wickets and at 3/70 the game looked in the balance. Elliott with 53 and Hodge with 44 were the stars through the middle of the innings. With solid contributions all the way down the order Victoria finished with 9/185 fro their 25 overs.
Ben Southam 3/33 was the best of the ACT bowlers, Simon Mann and Matt Ramage both took a couple each.
ACT's innings starting poorly losing inpirational skipper Michael Dawn for a duck 4th ball of the innings. When Dawn goes cheaply the Comets traditionally struggle. The middle order did their best to keep Canberra in the game, but the scoring rate was simply too low, at now stage of the innings were they able to get the run rate up above that of Victoria's.
ACT finished at 8/155 from their 25 overs meaning they went down by 30 runs.
Best with the bat for the ACT was Maxwell 53(37), Hanna 27(18)* and Southam 21(29)
Victorias best with the ball was Welsford 3/15 from 5 overs and White 3/32 from 5.
man of the match was awarded to White.

I think I may stick with this team for the time being!!:P
Oh well. At least this game wasn't in the league. If it had of been I would be spewing, but since its the VB Cup, I can't say I care that much. For some reason I don't get much of kick out of it. This week I would have rather seen my round 3 one day match played and yeah...

Northen Districts Vs Warwickshire

After loses in the 1 Day and 4 Day versions of the game, ND's manager Eyes_Only didn't hold out much hope for the team's chances of a win in Round 1 in the VB Cup. To say she was over-joyed with the team's 4 wicket win over Warwickshire was a major understatement!

A new look bowling line-up restricted Warwickshire to 148 all out after 25 overs. M Nitini was the pick of the bowlers with 1/4 from 4 overs which included an amazing 3 maidens! He was assisted by G Aldridge who took 5/23 and D Vettori who took 2/20.

The run chase started off slowly with M Vaughn going cheaply for 10. Afridi stayed at the crease for a little longer for 26 before being caught off Giles off the bowling of Eallham.

Fleming came to the crease with the score at 2/49 and remained not out on 54 from 58 balls.

Styris, Rhodes and Hart all fell cheaply for only a handful of runs. Rummans looked like he would make his first 50 for his new club before falling 4 runs short after being out LBW to Adams for 46.

Northern Districts were 6/152 after 25 overs to win the match by 4 wickets. M Nitni was named Man Of The Match for his sterling bowling efforts.

While Eyes_Only is over-joyed with the win, she knows the hard work is yet to come.

" A win is a win and it's great for the team that this is the first one for the season, but if we want to win this series, the hard work MUST start today"

Eyes not spreadsheets
Well you wouldn't have played against anyone so you may have won!

I was most shocked when i simmed it, especially after looking at the line-ups pre-game.

Aside from a couple of changes, this maybe the team I keep for the League games as well!

Province play like Poo

Province went into this match against Lancashire feeling confident. Their form so far this season had been impressive and they were looking for a good show in the VB cup.
BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Some ****** called M Mendis spoiled the party taking 6-2.
Province called for a drug test after the game.
the test was taken with a result saying from the doctors "the only reason he took that many wickets was because ur batsman sucked"

oh well always next week

Auckland won?!? :O :O

WOW! I would write a match report, but I'm still in shock.

Auckland manager Liam Camps: "Oh crap! And I put $500 on an Auckland loss. Match fixing I say!"
