Hard to know whether SA's poor batting display against India was just an anomaly or whether they are susceptible vs. decent-to-good attacks.

India really did bowl above themselves that evening, must be said.
Especially players like Riley Roosouw.

He doesn't score runs though, the last time he done anything with the bat was ages ago and meaningless
Watson-bashing aside I agree, hence "Behardien is terrible".

He's much better for the side in theory than practice really.. but such players tend to do well at selection meetings.

Played well today, but he'll be out once JP returns.

Will be interesting if there's a thought to AB taking the gloves if de Kock continues to fail. I can't see it because he seems like an integral part of their set-up, but who knows, another 2-3 consecutive scores under 10...

Fair point. can we both agree its madness that he has not bowled here yet though? He needs the practise against a "test " batting line up. No disrespect to Ireland and UAE but what will he learn if he comes on if either are chasing 370 and they are 122/6? They may as well bowl Amla then.

If you need a 6th bowler, Faf/ABdV can probably do the job considering that playing Berhardien weakens literally everything.

I'd play:
1. de Kock +
2. Amla
3. du Plessis (6)
4. Rossouw
5. de Villiers (7)
6. Duminy (5)
7. Miller
8. Philander (2)
9. Steyn (1)
10. Morkel (3)
11. Tahir (4)

Given that you now have h4x batting depth, you can probably handle 3-4 overs of pies from ABdV or Faf. Duminy's a 6-7 over per game bowler anyway, and if someone is tonking Steyn out of the attack, Berhardien's not likely to fare any better anyway.

Yeah I'd absolutely do this anyway.. but when you're talking about the same group of people who picked Behardien in the squad in the first place, a discussion between them is definitely liable to result in them deciding the sum of Behardien's parts adds more to the side than RR. I'd be surprised if he was dropped, particularly when he actually managed to do his batting role well in this game.

Is the pitch really turning? Or is the bowling of Faf more suggestive that Rossouw will hold his place and Berhardien's meds can GAGF?

Its weird as Behardien bowled in a bit in the SA v WI series previously and the warm up games. Genuinely unless injured no clue why he has not bowled at least 5 overs by now.
