Just come in to see the score line , didn’t expect play as it’s peeing it down here in North Yorks.. but pleased to see its dry somewhere, cloud obviously not big enough to cover the whole of England..
And Root just out...

With score like this all Root had to do was stop any kind of collapse, done his job. Would have gone Buttler ahead of Morgan, but understand Morgie coming in. His record has really improved over last few years.

Scratch that, Athers sold me down the river whilst tabbed out. Good to see Jos.

Jeez, 21 from 29 (SR 72) looks pretty ordinary from Root given the context. I know he had Roy going at the other end, but still no excuse not to be over a 90 SR.

He did exactly what he needed to, rotated strike and made sure we didn't lose a couple of quick wickets. SR irrelevant.

You're overly generous. It's not like he came in after an early wicket with it hooping around. He come in at a perfect time to get on with it & do exactly what you just said, rotate the strike, which means going at close to a run a ball. SR is relevant in this situation.

Yeah that was a poor innings by Root. The pitch is flat, the attack is poor and he came in after the 25th over. He got a start but didn't go on. Worse still, his start was at a poor strike rate.

It was a perfectly fine innings, we are well placed for a massive total. If he'd have come in and nicked off early then BD have an end to properly attack.
