10th Match - Afghanistan v Australia

So Australia are through to the semi finals with one win and two no results.

Hopefully we get them in the semi finals, they will be short of match practice.
NZ have never beaten Australia in a knockout scenario ever

It's as one-sided if not more one sided than India-Pakistan rivalry in ICC events

Also on paper our team is much better, and we have nothing to fear. It would be good to thrash them so that Jamieson, O'Rourke, Ravindra, Phillips etc. get some psychological dominance over the Aussies ahead of our 4 test tour of Oz in 26/27.

We talking men's team here tho and I agree, this would probably be NZ's best chance to beat Australia in a knockout situation but history and psychological edge has always played it's part in important tournaments.

Would not bet against Australia if they face a team that they have an overwhelmingly dominant record against.

How far ahead of DLS par were Australia when the match was abandoned? What were they on course to win by? I suspect they would at least have been pushing SA’s NRR hard

If they got back on the park Aus would have needed 123 off 20 overs. As they were 109 off 13 they may have won in 15 overs. This would have given an overall NRR of around 1.4, still well below SA's 2.14 (but that likely to come down after Eng game)

Haha I remember some blokes saying this early days in the last wc too. NZ always claim to be better than Australia until they actually get to play each other
