1 day, round 7 match reports
Warwickshire kept the division 1 dream alive with a remarkable victory over NSW in Sydney. After opting to bat first NSW made 285/7. Warwickshire were kept in the game by a determined Ben Gregson (5/59) who took 5 wickets. What makes this display remarkable was the fact Gregson had never taken more than 2 wickets in a one day match before in nearly four season of WCC. With spectulation over his future at Warwickshire it was a timely display from one of Warwickshire longest serving players.
Warwickshire's innings took on a resemblance of what has been their one day season so far. They crashed to 67/5 with hope pretty much lost and down the shithole. Mitchell Dowla was joined by Jermaine Bradshaw was the pair pushed the score up to 181, before Dowla fell for 64, only to be followed next ball by Hameed. However, Bradshaw wasn't about to give up. With the help of Ismael Nelson (32 off 29) they surged on. Having just brought up what was undoubtly the best one day century in Warwickshire's WCC history Bradshaw watched on as Nelson was dismissed and quickly followed by Gregson. 259/9 with Warwickshire looking screwed again as Bulbeck headed out to the wicket. 26 runs still required. What followed will live in the memories of Warwickshire fans for quite sometime as Bradshaw proceeded to take the New South Wales bowlers apart seeing Warwickshire home with a ball to spare. Bradshaw scored 128 off only 108 balls.
With the win Warwickshire move off the bottom of the table and up to 5th. They sit only one point behind NSW and Lancashire. The final two rounds certainly promise a lot.
