The first round of three-day matches was simmed today:
Nixonstown Foxes 277 & 137 lost to
Davistow Darters 308 & 107-2 by eight wickets
Points: Foxes 2, Darters 15
Dylan Jellett, Nath Patrick and David Comley were all heroes at Heathridge Oval, as the Darters won their first match of the season. Jellett scored 133 in the first innings, while Patrick bowled a second innings spell of 10-0-27-5 to remove the entire top order of the Foxes the second time around. Jellett then hit another half-century as the Darters chased down 107 with ease.
Greater Robbham de Grooters 338 & 191-5d
Pickford Panthers 265 & 36-0
Points: de Grooters 7, Panthers 5
McCrystal and Bhadauria reduced de Grooters to one run for three wickets, but they still escaped with a draw against Pickford. Tebbut and Palmer hit centuries in a 198-run fourth-wicket stand, and the professional bowlers failed to back up; the Panthers then crashed to 43 for 4 before half-centuries from Hepworth and Callum Benjamin saved the day. Rain on the third day then halted de Grooters' chase for victory, along with a painstaking 83 from Sukhvinder, and the Panthers eased to a draw.
Gofftown Tigers 201 & 308 beat
Stedingham Jets 154 & 253 by 102 runs

Blazing half-centuries set the Tigers off to a magnificent start, with 110 for the first wicket, but Tharmi Loganathan took five for 48, including a hat-trick of Thampi, Demeza (batting at 10!) and Masterman as the Tigers crashed to 201. However, the Jets failed to exploit a good start, and fell from 95 for 1 to a total of 154. In reply, the openers once again set the tone, and healthy contributions from the entire top eight ensured that the Tigers made their way past 300. Chasing 350, Iron Desi opened by smacking Demeza for runs on the first day, and he ended up with 80 - off 64 balls - before he was bowled by Masterman. Once he was gone, the Jets lost the last nine wickets for 117, Trav Demeza ripping out the middle order but still ending with 13-0-80-3 after the treatment of Desi.
Twybridge Titans 392 & 230-8d drew with
Edfield Seahawks 356 & 66-0
Points: Titans 6, Seahawks 6
Barnaby ruined Edfield's chances of winning this match with a Mørk-esque 85 off 320 balls. After the Titans had been bowled out on the first day for 392, the Seahawks lasted well past lunch after dogged resistance from Galbraith and Banik, while the professionals failed to impress. Gaurav Nayak was especially poor, scoring 4 and bowling 22 overs for 118 runs.
Campsfield Braves 198 & 172 beat
Garven Island Sharks 107 & 110 by 153 runs
Points: Braves 15, Sharks 0
Two splendid bowling efforts ensured that the Braves got their first win of the season, with Gareth Gooljar enjoying the spin friendly wicket and lack of batting application from the Sharks. The Braves batted first, and after a slow start Hasabnis made a century to help the Braves to 198. Adam Collins then bowled a long spell across two days which yielded four for 44, and Gareth Gooljar wrapped the Sharks up for 107 after a spell of 7.3-2-8-4. With the help of Dhamaka Singh, who top scored with 33, the Braves managed 172 the second time around, and on the tricky pitch Gooljar celebrated another four-for of tail-enders, while Collins dug out the key wickets of Hanbury and Monaghan.
