Cricket Web U/19 XI vs Sri Lanka U/19 XI, game five at Borga

Sri Lanka Dominate Cricket Web

Cricket was the loser in a lop-sided match in Borga. Cricketing fans who turned out to watch the U/19 fixture were thrilled to watch young Sri Lankan batsman Sachithra Serasinghe play the innings of his life, making 137 not out from just 152 balls. Sameera de Zoysa, the opening wicket-keeper batsman, was unfortunate not to end the innings with a ton, also, finishing unbeaten on 89. The two put on an unbeaten partnership of 240 as the Cricket Web bowlers could only find one wicket, that from Kev Goughy with his ninth ball.

In reply the Cricket Webbers were eventually bowled out in the 47th over, after strong, back against the wall innings from Stephen Burke, Zac Ritchie, Chris Dwyer and Andy Cameron. The Webbers never looked in it, being 3 for 10 early on. Sri Lankans captain Angelo Matthews was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of three for seventeen from ten.

Cricket Web are now relying on Sri Lanka to beat Bangladesh in the last of the round robin games to make the final. Sri Lanka currently remain undefeated on 6 points, whilst Cricket Web lead Bangladesh 3 points to 2 due to a bonus point gained from their only win of the series.

Man of the Match : SC Serasinghe [ 137 (152) ]

Even though the bowlers struggled to take wickets they are putting on decent show. The batsmen on the other hand continue to not show up.

Very disappointing loss, hopefully Bangladesh don't win the next game, but we don't really deserve to be in the final.

Bangladesh XI vs Sri Lanka XI, game six at Dhaka

Sri Lanka Stumble

Tight bowling at the death by Bangladesh suffocated Sri Lanka and causing them to lose by 2 runs. The Sri Lankan's only lost two wickets in their 50 overs, but remarkabley were unable to get the remaining runs. Wicket-keeper batsman de Zoysa knocked up another fine innings this time getting his century and remained not out, but ultimately he batted too slow.

Bangladesh's win subsequently killed any hope of Cricket Web playing in the final. Bangladesh will now take on Sri Lanka. Both camps are in high spirits to win the final.

Man of the Match : Sameera de Zoysa [ 105 (148) ]

Hosting Nation Wins Cup

Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka in the under nineteen tri-nation cup.
Sri Lanka batted first, and were the favourites to win the cup, and could only muster 221 for 8 off of their 50 overs. The pitch report before the game suggested 250 - 260 would be a defendable total.

Pushpakumara, in at 9, high scored for the 'Lankans with an undefeated 43. Most other batsmen got starts but couldn't go on with it. Shuvo was the pick of the bowlers for the Bangladeshi's with 4 wickets from his ten overs at just 3.6 per over.

In reply the Bangladeshi's posted the score with just under 5 overs to spare and with 5 wickets in hand. Raqibul Hasan and the captain Nadif Chowdury batted well to both make decent 40's.

Man of the Match : Suhrawadi Shuvo [ 4 for 36 (10) & 21* (27) ]

The touring Cricket Web party now move on to Pakistan to play a three test match series before taking on India, in India, in a similar series. They hope to improve their subcontinent form in the longer version of the game after only winning one one day fixture and failing to make the final.
