    *Official* Indian Domestic Season 2004/2005

Yes, that had a lot to do with it. Hyderabad had the good sense to play their matches at home on very sporting pitches, all fo which had a result (and sometimes within 3 days instead of 4). In this new system, that is the key - you have result pitches, and if youre a good side, you'll win maybe...

    *Official* Indian Domestic Season 2004/2005

It was, as you say, part of Bihar - and that is reflected in the current Jharkhand XI as well. Most of the players are the ones who formed Bihar in the past - and "Bihar" isnt playing anymore, so thats natural. Basically its almost the exact same team with a changed name (except a couple of...

I dont think there is anyone who doesnt *want* to score runs, per se :-) Its a question of ability and temperament in the end. Boycott has criticized a lot of people in the past too, and some of them have come on very strongly (two examples would be Flintoff and Yuvraj Singh - who was absolutely...

Joginder is a different case from RP Singh- he has been playing for 3 seasons in Ranjis now.I think he ight well be a decent bowler, but I really wonder if his batting will translate at the higher level. It is much easier to make runs against weaker bowlers after all (his 2 centuries were...

Its veyr early, and with 4 points for a victory even 1 win changes everything for the minnows - as has happened the last 3 years. Its too early to say anything, in that respect. However, at the moment, I think MP is not in bad shape at all really. They have 4 points from 4 matches right now -...

Personally I dont think Irfan Pathan is as good as *any* of the Baroda top-6, leave alone all of them :-) Note, he played with them for 3 years, and did worse than any of them with the bat, by quite a big margin at that. Not by chance, either. Parab doesnt move his feet much, but is an opener...

Pawar has to be Baroda's #1 spinner, yes - but so far he has been. He has been bowling mostly on pitches that favour pace (or are flat, as in the first game), but he has been Baroda's hero twice now - all 6 points they have are heavily due to him. In this match, for instance, he had 7 wickets in...

Indulkar *is* the young batsman they need to give the first chance to, however. And his average is actually not that bad - at this moment his career fc average is 53. Indulkar is very young, and quite talented - they saw him as a prospect from his younger days, he was seen as the best U16 and...

Personally Iam hoping Pawar outperforms Yusuf - I think he is the better longterm prospect by far :-) (As for "Bombay extras", BTW, Baroda now has *three* of them - Zaheer Khan, Rajesh Pawar, and Kiran Powar. Kiran Powar is the brother of Ramesh Powar). Rajesh Pawar is a left-arm spinner, and...

    *Official* Indian Domestic Season 2004/2005

Not seen him, but talked to people who have. Very aggressive (runs in hard, is willing to bounce and sledge repeatedly), somewhat muscular. But, from what I was told, not particularly fast - there are quicker bowlers in the domestic circuit (even though he is aggressive like a fast guy). And I...

    *Official* Indian Domestic Season 2004/2005

BTW, I dont even think its a very bold prediction that RP Singh will get a shot for India sometime :-) He has been highly thought of for a while, he was India U19's lead paceman a year ago (and the selectors are famously into taking U19 players before they ever prove themselves at fc level...

Bombay does *not* have enough runs in Morris, Powar, Bahutule, Agarkar and Samant IMHO - the problem with Bombay at the moment is a certain fragility in the batting. This was true 2 years ago (btu the tail mentioned above saved them repeatedly and they won) - last year the batting clicked well...

    *Official* Indian Domestic Season 2004/2005

Bombay has done nothing of the sort - Vinod Kambli was unwell on the morning of the match and so dropped out for this game. But he is hardly dropped - he was captain for the previous game (when Bahutule was away playing for India-A against RSA), and Bombay doesnt go around dropping its captains...

    Two Irfan Pathans?

An article on him today, BTW, in the Indian Express. At http://www.indianexpress.com/full_story.php?content_id=58990 c8w

    Two Irfan Pathans?

Just saw this thread. Irfan Safi is a decent enough bowler, but not really seen as an international prospect at this time I dont think. Doesnt always make the Baroda side (Shekhar Joshi etc are all ahead of him, even when Irfan and Zaher are away - Rakesh Patel is the 3rd seamer for Baroda)...
