*Official* Third Test at the WACA

Hussey averaged 80 after 20 matches or whatever it was. I'll stick to my earlier post, if Johnson plays 50+ tests without some serious alterations I'm backing a very mediocre 32-35 average for him. Happy to be wrong but I just can't see how he is going to continuously get quality batsman out.

*Official* Third Test at the WACA

I think Watto should keep opening during the ashes but I think he is better suited to 3 or 4 in the long term (be it next series or next year) - both so that bowling doesn't affect him as much and so he can take over from Ponting when he goes as he is IMO, the only one with the game for no 3...

*Official* Third Test at the WACA

I don't buy into all this "he's out of form and can come back into it at anytime" stuff. I personally subscribe to the idea that he is not bowling that much different than when he was getting boatloads of wickets. It's not like the majority of his dismissals are batsman squared up edging behind...

*Official* Third Test at the WACA

I hear you. Is this what England went through the last 20 years or did they just pick the best players and they sucked? I could deal with the latter.

*Official* Third Test at the WACA

Well he said that batting is not a big problem, we just need 20 wickets. Nevermind that we got cleaned up for less that 600 runs over two innings in Adelaide  - so I expect he probably wants Hauritz to open on the back of his shield century or something equally as stupid.

*Official* Third Test at the WACA

 Just read my local paper's back page and apparently our resident cricket "expert" thinks the following selection wise for the WACA: - Johnson and Hilf back in - Steve smith to play as leg spinning all-rounder (bat at 8) and the icing on everyone here's cake I'm sure... - Marcus North...

*Official* Third Test at the WACA

Agreed. As soon as the pitch didn't offer anything (Bris 2nd, Adelaide) his length dropped back and he stopped threatening. I have seen him bowl good twice that I can recall. The Gabba 1st innings and Leeds last year. Both times pitching it up on wickets doing a little bit. He is rubbish the...

*Official* Third Test at the WACA

If Johnson plays at the WACA, its game over. England 2-0. This isn't the WACA Ambrose took 7-1 on and even if it was Johnson can't hit the same place twice (on purpose) to expoit it. He bowls gash for 5+ tests before this series (if you ask me I don't think he was particularly good at any...

    Ashes Draft

Percy McDonnell. For round 11 and John Snow For round 12 Which doesn't bode well for Hogg and also leaves me doomed if we play on the subcontinent or at old school SCG - unless you count Giffen as a spinner. Love the pace attack though. 1. H Sutcliffe 2. W Lawry 3. M Slater 4. I Chappell (c)...

    Ashes Draft

That's awesome because there are some serious hacks in my team and some quality players that missed out by series.

    Ashes Draft

Does the 12th player picked have to be the 12th man or can you make anyone your 12th?

    Ashes Draft

Good thing you have that top order, batting looks a little thin in the lower order.

    Ashes Draft

George Giffen 1. Herbert Sutcliffe 2. Bill Lawry 3. Michael Slater 4. Ian Chappell (c) 5. 6. Charles Kellaway 7. George Giffin 8. James Kelly (+) 9. Sir Alec Bedser (o) 10. Rod Hogg 11. Glenn McGrath (o) Toss up between two but had to pick the Aussie.

    Ashes Draft

James Kelly. Never heard of the guy in my life but he was a wicket keeper and apparently was Wisden Cricketer of the year 1903. 1. Lawry 2. Sutcliffe 3. Slater 4. Ian Chappell (c) 5. 6. Kellaway 7. 8. Kelly (+) 9. Bedser 10. Hogg 11. McGrath

That's some top order you have there.

    Ashes Draft

Charles Kellaway. I don't know that much about this era and all the players I do know are gone! Kellaway seems handy, averages 31 with bat and ball against the old enemy, not bad. 1. Bill Lawry 2. Herbert Sutcliff 3. Michael Slater 4. Ian Chappell (c) 5. 6. Charles Kellaway 7. 8. 9. Sir Alec...

    Ashes Draft

Jumped the gun a bit? Anyway, I wasn't going to pick him anyway.

    Ashes Draft

Yeah I wanted to pick O'Reilly but then I would have had a long tail. I can deal with Sutcliffe though.
  19. J

    Ashes Draft

Maybe, I'll consider moving Slater to 3 depending on who else I pick up later. I think a player of his quality would do fine at 3.

    Ashes Draft

Really wanted to pick a certain leg spinner but I need a number eight who can bat. Herbert Sutcliffe. 2741 @ 66.85 in ashes  1. Bill Lawry 2. Michael Slater 3. Herbert Sutcliffe 4. Ian Chappell 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Sir Alec Bedser 10. Rodney Hogg 11. Glenn McGrath Some bloody good players...
