Stuart Law, a mighty fine player-One test - 54 not out, then dropped for a returning Steve Waugh.

Greatest opener of the last 20 years?

and Dravid didn't?? He played some of his finest innings on ropey wickets when the rest of the Indian team had surrendered.

Graeme Smith to retire from international cricket

Good Captaincy is all about making do with the talent you've got. Good a player and Captain that Steve Waugh was, he was blessed with a team of astonishing talent that anyone could have captained. Around the same time Stephen Fleming did wonders with a decidedly average team that punched above...

Greatest opener of the last 20 years?

What about Trescothick? When you consider the problems the fella had, its remarkable he ended with the career and batting record he has. A very brave man.

    DRS: Worth Persevering With?

But why two referrals? How about 1 per batsman? Both teams would have to be more sure about how and when to use it.

Good Captain and lower order batsman, but Dhoni's keeping is clumsy, Buttler is looking good

    Speed or Action?

Depends on the angle too. Because of his height Joel Garner had the ball coming out of a background above the height of the sightscreen. Some grounds too have blind spots.

    DRS: Worth Persevering With?

For line decisions: Run outs, No balls, and iffy catches fine....But lets give the umpires the authority they deserve. Its not, in my opinion made the game better. It's always been a great game and needs little tinkering. Remember the subs.........?

Greatest opener of the last 20 years?

It must be taken into context that scoring runs on flat pitches against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and the largely toothless Sri Lankan seam attack inflates a test record enormously. If we go back beyond the last twenty years, check out the records of Gooch and Gavaskar against the West Indians in...

Greatest opener of the last 20 years?

I agree with everything you say! Added to this Stewart batted every position from 1 to 7, (his best work at number 2) whilst keeping wicket and captaining (sometimes both). Never heard him complain about his workload. Modern players take note!!!

Greatest opener of the last 20 years?

Not the greatest opener ever, but in a short career Mark Richardson has a fine record and was hard to dislodge. Good bad wicket player.

    Over-rated things in cricket

Overrated things??? Try some of the old journalists whose pretentious articles were sent down like sermons from the mount and whose ego's were greater than Bradman's average. Camp old duffers!

    Bradman's record on sticky wickets?

I'm English and get a bit fed up of beatification of The Don but you cant escape the fact that his record is amazing. There's not a sportsman so far ahead of anyone else in their particular sport. If I'm picking a team, its Bradman and Sobers without question, then 9 others.

Graeme Smith to retire from international cricket

Just checked his stats, can't believe how many first class games (159) to tests (116) he's played. Some record surely? Great player though.

    Pick your toughest XI ever!

Thought of Miller and Waugh myself. Mind you any of the guys like Miller, Compton, or any of the other players who went to war I'm sure were very brave guys. Verity sadly did not make it back. Special mention to George Lohmann too for the fine career he had despite long illness.

It's Tough Being Me - The Kevin Pietersen Story

Where does Piers Morgan get off with gobbing off about this? He's K.P.'s buddy not a legend of the game. Why does anyone care about what he thinks? All that's been proven here is that K.P. has been telling Morgan about dressing room gossip. I thought that from the players point of view, the...
