    2023-24 Big Bash League

I see Corey Anderson is in HH's squad, be interesting how he performs. Actually played pretty well in that recent American tournament which had no shortish of top talent. Crazy to think he's still only 32, thought he'd be mid 30s but had to remind myself he played in the same age group teams as KW.

    The legacy of Steve Smith

Clearly the best of the fab 4 in terms of Test batting & a def top 10 test bat of all time, in fact probably top 5.

Played NZ. Excellent partnership in difficult conditions. Phillips just quietly averaging 46 with the bat & 8 wickets @ 16 with the ball after 3 tests.

The real question is who of Conway, Latham or Ravindra bats down the order when Ravindra replaces Nicholls. Would prefer to see Conway slot down. Always been a make-shift Test opener, good enough a bat to be able to make a success of it, but would like to see him at 3 or 4.

Waste Nicholls, dead as should be your Test career.

So is Patel officially our best ever Test spinner? (we really haven't had many of note.) Has the advantage over Vettori in playing a much higher % of his Tests in the SC but a SR of 57 is great for a spinner.

I'd visit as long as I was guaranteed that Athar Ali Khan wasn't going to be the tour guide.

Interesting to hear that's Mitchell's 1st stumping dismissal in Tests considering how often gets down the track.

*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

Yeah Katey Martin and Frankie Mackay are the best of a bad bunch. McMillian is predictable and not really insightful at all for someone who coached, a poor man's Scott Styris. Did quite enjoy Fleming last year & McCullum the year prior, but the Comm box badly needs Jeets Patel if he wasn't...

    Test Batting Strike Rates

In fact he's no. 2 with min. 500 runs. Surprised to see both P Kirsten, who could be a fluent stroke maker & Roger Twose in the top 10

    Test Batting Strike Rates

Trev would've topped this all-time list if he scored another 170 odd runs at that same rate.

    Test Batting Strike Rates

Almost forgot about big Trev B. Jeez he's even got Tavare covered. Ironically I saw him hit 2 of the biggest 6s I've ever seen as a 5 year old in a List A game.

Not withstanding the HTB, couldn't play in SA when he was 13 etc comments. Me still likes this picture; QUAL: >5000 runs

    Test Batting Strike Rates

Chris Tavare lives up to his reputation of being the real 'corpse in pads' (eat your heart out Bill Lawry) with a Test SR 30.60 & even managed a sub 50 SR in ODIs, which takes some doing.
