Can't fault Mathieson for that last over. Southee and Henry bowled most of the wides earlier, Santner dropped the match winning catch after a near match winning performance with the ball, and Elliot was a wasted over that gifted double the RR

Serious bad calls by both sides this innings. Too many bad shots, too many bad balls. Makes for a tense game, but man was it ugly. Well played Bairstow

Exactly. If you wanna take pace off the ball like the commentators suggest, why not actually go to a spinner that has taken key wickets before? Elliot was just a bad choice to throw at two set batsmen who are comfortable with the pace

Didn't think it was a good idea to put Elliot in. That over could cost us

England really approached this the wrong way. Santner with some good bowling, and good fielding by Williamson and Guptil, but jeez how many silly shots do England want to play?

At what time would the game get called off? Dunno if its worth staying up

Well time to go to sleep and dream of rain. No Milne, Boult or Anderson has left our bowlers looking toothless today

His brand of cricket deserves its own name for sure. I'd vote McCullum for president of the USA for sure

I honestly don't know, but it looks like its going to smash into his right hip, doesn't it? Very borderline. I'd call either call unlucky to be honest. Both bowler and batter would have the right to wonder about it

Agreed. i.imgur.com/mXZhOOU.jpg Borderline at best, would think the call would go with umpire. Burden of proof should be to find conclusive evidence that it was below waist, shouldn't it? Certainly can't say %100 that ball in that shot is below his waist.

In what way does it tickle you that I'm going to continue referring to this out as lucky despite your insight?

Yeah well thats like your opinion man

DRS requires more than 50% of the ball to be hitting in order to overturn a not out. It requires a much larger percentage of the ball to be missing to overturn an out. This makes the call lucky for England in my opinion. A call that I accept and respect, but one that in my opinion did not look...
