***Official*** 4th Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground

Symonds living on the edge with some of those leaves. :)

***Official*** 4th Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground

50 for Symonds. Really good work, and under considerable pressure, coming in when the English bowlers' tails were up and in difficult conditions for batting. Struggled a great deal early, too. I know a lot of people are sure he won't make it in test cricket, and it's hard to argue otherwise...

    Gilchrist in the Ashes.

 Actually Roebuck's really something of a prick, isn't he though? At times he writes well (though less and less as the years go by, I find), but he does launch into some really vitriolic attacks out of the blue occasionally. Coincidentally, I was just reading the Kenneth Williams...

    Gilchrist in the Ashes.

Yes, it came out some years ago that despite his years of contributing to Australian media, he's actually English! I can't say I was surprised, though, all the telltale signs were there. I didn't hear Roebuck's rant, but Lee has certainly been unimpressive (though not through lack of effort)...

5/111 at lunch. Good session for England, but IMO Australia can still score 250 or so here. Hopefully Hayden can keep his concentration up and Symonds can start picking some gaps - he's getting very little mileage for the few attacking strokes he's played so far. Richie was just commenting on...

50 for Haydos. Not looking too bad at all. Just gotta hold on till lunch now and not do anything stupid.

Sounds outrageous enough to me, why not? :) I'd be happy enough with a 50 myself, under the circumstances, nobody's looked that comfortable out there so far. A ton from Hayden would really tip things our way, and he's probably looking as likely as anybody (touchwood).

***Official*** 4th Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground

He was a bit early, but since being tied down (as the wickets fell), I think his concentration level has been excellent. I always find it impossible to judge how many he's gonna get though, 'cause he has such a tendency in recent years to throw his wicket away when he's looking fantastic. But...

***Official** Sri Lanka in New Zealand

I know Twenty20 is regarded as a bit of fun at this stage, but having a Duckworth/Lewis result at 5 overs seems a bit stupid. We ask for a minimum of 20 overs per team these days for the standard ODI - I reckon there should be a minimum 10 overs for the super-short version. I guess they...

BREAKING NEWS:::: SHOIAB and ASIF ban Lifted!!!!!!

Interesting, if true. I'll have to do some reading up on this.

***Official*** 4th Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground

Some showers predicted for next week in Melbourne (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday). Been quite a while since we had any prolonged rain, so it's unlikely we'll lose the majority of a day or anything, but weather could play some part in the match. Obviously the further ahead the forecast the more...

    Twenty20 or Cricket Max?

Leaving aside some of the more arguable content (some of which I thought was pretty silly) of Martin Crowe's Cowdrey lecture this year, I really thought he was onto something when discussing having teams fight out two innings each in limited overs cricket. It seems that Cricket Max has had it's...

LOL The final two tests of this series, Craig....

Who will be harder to replace - McGrath or Warne

The only way Ashley Giles could be a better bowler than Colin Miller is in an episode of Sliders.

    Warnes 700th wicket - Who?

    KP. Make it so.

    The Beginning of the End?

I'm not completely convinced that McGrath's going either, but I see it similarly as an exciting time in Australian cricket. I'm not even depressed by it either - it's a perfect time for Warne to retire, still at the top - and what else is there for him to achieve, particularly given that he's...

Warne and Mcgrath retiring after the 5th Ashes test!!!

You could try this one, although Pigeon's retirement isn't really confirmed yet:

Warne and Mcgrath retiring after the 5th Ashes test!!!

Cheers, mate. Still haven't seen anything myself, it just seemed weird that so little prominence would be given to McGrath's possible exit in comparison to Warne's.

Warne and Mcgrath retiring after the 5th Ashes test!!!

What did they say? Jim Wilson just mentioned McGrath now, but only in the context of the possibility that he, and either one or both of Langer and Hayden could go at the end of the series (which sounds far more about casual speculation than actual rumor).
