What is Ponting doing to Bracken?

Haha, right, the gloves are off... :p

    Who do you agree with?

Presuming you meant didn't walk, but yeah, I agree. Though it's hard not to imagine that umpires occasionally make calls based on how convincing appeals are (the keeper particularly) on some decisions, it certainly shouldn't be advocated.

    Official Gibbs Ban Thread

It'd be a close thing - upon some checking, the incident took place at the Melbourne Hilton in '77. http://www.dispatch.co.za/1998/10/28/sport/MIKE.HTM So Botham would have represented England in one day cricket, by then, and he debuted in tests in August that year ('77)

    Official Gibbs Ban Thread

As mentioned, I believe it started in the 70's, in a pub. I think I read somewhere that Chappell was badmouthing the Poms, and Botham just let loose, sending Chappelli flying (this is a really hilarious image, BTW) over a table apparently being used by some AFL players, so food and drink is...

    The Makhaya Ntini appreciation thread

Most of us do that to an extent though in high profile crime allegations don't we? For example, I have an opinion of Michael Jackson's innocence, do you? What about OJ Simpson or Robert Blake? I don't blame anybody for having reservations about such a situation - we all know just how hard it...

It's probably mostly been said before, but Andrew Miller's article at cricinfo after this match was a good read: http://content-aus.cricinfo.com/cbs/content/current/story/277393.html An excerpt: Their attitude to one-day cricket is as fickle as the entourage of WAGs and infants that has been...

    Official Gibbs Ban Thread

Yeah, although his point seems to be more about the more aggressive and incessant chatter that's going on now, rather than the occasional potshot. And to be fair, given the existence of the stump mikes, he brings up his own gaffe on-air at Nine, which nearly cost him his job. Anyway, he has...

    The Makhaya Ntini appreciation thread

I kinda understand the point Goughy is making - I guess the comments about Ntini's character should be read through the prism of what happens on the cricket field. 'Cause in reality, we all have our players who we particularly like, and not many of us actually know any of these people well as...

Michael Bevan Retires - and Tribute Thread.

For chrissakes, Richard, you can belligerently miss the point at times (and then drive home the fact that you missed the point, again and again). I said, in the context of ODIs "coming in down the order doesn't preclude playing big shots". To back up that comment, I brought up players who come...

Have a look at the Kiwis in the field tonight and contrast that to the other night. PIcked up the bonus point, too.

England completely gone. Oram obvious lock-in for MOTM. The partnership between Oram and McCullum very decisive, it would seem, and 210 obviously more than enough in the end. Prince EWS for two consecutive Greiggy's? TBF he might get off as he did say England would coast easily to a 180...

England in terrible trouble now, with Flintoff gone caught behind to Vettori - NZ now strong favorites at this stage with much resting on Ed Joyce. Just the ball before was some choice commentary from Slats (about Flintoff): "The thing is, if you get to the 50th over and he's still there...

    Battle of the CC posters.

Haha, TBF I think a lot of people might understandably predict a Faaip/Jono face-off at the end of the comp, and I think there are quite a few people who could put me to shame when it comes to posting in CC, so I'm not that fussed. Can't speak for Dasa though. ;)

Wow, some of you NZ supporters are as harsh on you're own men as some Indian fans. Thought it was a pretty good innings considering. They were in deep, deep trouble when he came in, and it was always going to be up to he and Oram to make the bulk of the runs if they were going to set anywhere...

Wow, very nice reverse sweep from Oram off Monty there - executed it beautifully in the end.

I actually expected England to win the game from the outset, and if anything they've started better off than I thought they would - but I wouldn't put it past them at all to stumble chasing a total of 180-200. I suppose it might also come down to Bond and Oram's fitness, to an extent. I guess...

    Battle of the CC posters.

LOL, curiosity got the better of me (I'm not into the poster vs poster battles so much) and I had a look at this, and I think I got gypped! Might have miscounted, but I thought I was at 8-8 when I got declared out of the race! Of course, Jono is easily good enough beat me comfortably, anyway...

Game's not quite over yet. If Oram, McCullum and Vettori could get to 180+, that might still be competitive against this England lineup.
