Of course they'd be financially better off, why do you think Craig Wing went there at this stage of his career? He even said it was for the money as he was screwed over by some scheme.

Easily Northies worst performance, we'll bounce back though.

Well thats true, if and when the tv deal goes up lets say the cap is raised to $5m per season, does that mean that someone like Ryan Hinchcliffe then gets $180k a year instead of $110k or does it mean Greg Inglis will now make $550k instead of $400k? We'll need to see pretty remarkable ammounts...

Naa thats bull****, the quality is there for 16 teams but no more,. I've just gone through the Big League and counted that there are currently 78 first graders unavailable this weekend through either suspension or injury, theres enough players there to fill the gaps of the current below par...

Cant see how getting rid of the cap is justifiable, there's simply no alternative unless we want a 6 team competition in ten years.

Disagree, 16 teams is a must for the tv deal and all those sort of things. Theres not enough talent for more teams but 16 works fine, the value of the game would immediately decrease should television only get 7 games instead of 8 per week.

I guess thats a possiblity, I still think that it would be the Bears but a good number of the team would be the current Melbourne squad in the same way the Storm were formed in 98 from Hunter and the Western Reds.

I don't think Melbourne are/were clearly that much better than everyone else this year, Dragons were premiership favourites yesterday and deservingly so imo.

Obviously teams beating Melbourne will get points, but no it's not an automatic 2 points win or lose. I don't agree with any argument saying Manly (07) and Eels (09) should get the premiership, anything could have happened had they been playing another team in the grand final etc... No way can...

I believe Waldron was heavily involved, they have thrown the word "Fraud" around a fair bit which obviously then becomes a criminal investigation so he'd be screwed.

But are the AFL losing any sponsors, fans or anything like that to the Storm? Sure the Storm were gaining fans but they were still also AFL fans (I'm presuming).

    **Official** NRL 2010 thread

Don't see how it will effect AFL at all tbh, if it was Gold Coast, Brisbane or Sydney or something then AFL might directly get something from it. Being Melbourne though I suspect your average AFL supporter in Victoria wont give this another thought in about two weeks, plus I can't see fans of...

There's going to be a lot more come from this, if the Storm can actually survive this they are going to be a shambles for a while. Be interesting to see which players go.
