    England’s best-ever Test XI – ECB survey

Are you allowed to specify that you want "early-career Botham" (say 1977-81), when he was a terrific swing bowler (200 wickets at 21) but less consistent as a batsman? If so. you could bring in Stanley Jackson for Larwood, open the bowling with Trueman and Barnes, and have Botham and...

Worst Player to Play 100 Tests?

Yes, he had some decent series against West Indies - he averaged 56 in 1993-4, 40 in 1995 and 34 in a very low-scoring series in 2000 (while failing in 1991 and 1997-8) Against the Aussies with McGrath, he barely had a decent match.

Worst Player to Play 100 Tests?

The trouble with this type of argument (and I've done it myself) is you can end up comparing the peak of player X with the whole career of players Y and Z. Yes, Hooper had a 50+ match spell where his average was 45; but Bell had a similar spell with an average of 52.

    Same Name Draft

This would be a six-round draft: in each round you pick 2 players who have a name in common, to give your final XI plus a substitute. My suggestion for how the rule works would be: - Stick to the names a player is usually known by, so no picking (say) Robert Simpson along with Robert Neil...
