Best match winners - batsmen and bowlers

Well that just dampened richard's theory. Then again, it doesn't matter because the bowlers always set up the win or complete the win, therefore they win matches. Even tho WI chased down 417 against AUS. And SA made over 450 in an ODI to beat AUS always..

Best match winners - batsmen and bowlers

Thats funny... Especially since players like ambrose weren't always on the winning team. Surprise not to see Australians winning more often.

Best match winners - batsmen and bowlers

How did WI chase 417 against AUS ? the bowlers set up such a nice total ? nope! The batsmen won that game. Richard I don't like how small you're trying to make the batsmen job appear in relations to winning games. A batsman who can stay out in the middle and win games for his team is a match...

Best match winners - batsmen and bowlers

Micheal holding said everytime viv went out to bat he was trying to score quick runs so WI could win. Micheal holding consider viv a match winner, said he only scored in accordance to the state of the game. In a time when batsmen didn't score quickly viv was able to set up nice totals in a score...

    Dennis Lillee man handled

He avg more than 50 in his first 35 games, so thats a long enough period. Yes, his contributions were very important.

    Dennis Lillee man handled

So he should have avg around 55 then in the end then ? Many regard him as an excellent player still today, one of the best to ever come from the carib.

YouTube - Alvin Kallicharan destroys Dennis Lillee It's interesting how players like that take nose dives at the end of their careers Batting records | Test matches | Cricinfo Statsguru | Cricinfo.com After playing 50 games he was avg 50. Prolly lost confidence at the end. Funny, he...

The best batsman and bowler of the 1990s

I'm not saying more runs weren't scored in this decade, but who scored them ? Players who came from the 90s or new players who started playing after 2000 ? I think if we look at the stats of players who began playing recently their records would be poor even tho they're playing in favourable...

The best batsman and bowler of the 1990s

Not saying that, just pointing out that 38 avg against india doesn't say much because ambrose ended up with the better avg. The details tell a different story from what Ambrose's overall 38avg against India is saying, but he dooesn't want to agree with that so I want to end the argument.

The best batsman and bowler of the 1990s

okay, no prob with that. Some how ambrose ended up with a better overall avg.

The best batsman and bowler of the 1990s

Thats it ? Did you check to see in those 9 test he only bowled 14 times and bowled less than 15 overs over 50% of the time ? That avg is misleading to be honest, Check his Econ rates in the games he did bowl long but didn't pick up any wickets, very low. In the game georgetown game...

The best batsman and bowler of the 1990s

Wait, how manny of those players began playing after 2000 or 1998 onwards ? and how many other players avg less than 40 ? or thats too hard to figure out ? Might take alot of work. lol.

The best batsman and bowler of the 1990s

Seriously, bowling and batting after 2000 had been very poor. Thats why Mcgrath could take wickets so easily, because batsmen playing after 2000 weren't use to bowlers bowling a good line and lenght - they just couldn't handle that. If you check all levels of cricket around the world today the...

The best batsman and bowler of the 1990s

Well ambrose only played India in 2 series, one in 89 and one in 97. Both series WI won, actually in 97 WI won the 5 match series 1-0. So i'm not sure what you're talking about. How can you fear him when he didn't play against india much ? and even when they played the games were mostly drawn ?
