I can't rate SOK too highly. Too much like Michael Beer.

His new hair probably contains anti-explosion measures. Only explanation as to why he is still alive.

All you have to do is convince the opposition to keep dropping you and you are set.

This is the spinning equivalent of the green seamer where you can barely tell where the pitch ends and the outfield begins. Those type of pitches are condemned as bad pitches as well.

Actually doubled down too when I mentioned something crazy might happen. Stuck to his guns.

But he is the right man for the conditions apparently. They are probably basing it off IPL form or something equally stupid.

There are some assumptions in there about Australia's score. You might want to think about some qualifying statements in there such as "Unless something complete crazy happens" or "Assuming no historic last-wicket partnership"

The SL tour wasn't dreadful circumstances?

Not sure what is backing up that opinion. Maxwell's batting record on the sub-continent is even worse than Khawaja's record.

Pretty much and I have never really seen a lot of evidence that a 5th bowler helps a lot in winning a match. The part-time spinners are good enough to not be free runs. That Matt Renshaw looks like a strapping young bloke. Maybe he could be persuaded to bowl a few overs of medium pace in the...

And he has usually been axed so they can pick Shaun Marsh, ffs.

I just have more confidence in a quality batsman working out a flaw in his game than I do in a terrible batsman suddenly becoming a good one, I guess.

This is just confirming for me how useless all-rounders are. You have to be able to hold your spot in the side as either a batsman or a bowler. Neither Marsh nor Maxwell tick a box here. Australia would be far better off picking Khawaja and hoping SL was a temporary aberration in form.

And they grew up watching Lillee. I feel like ever since then Australia have been much better at appealing than other countries. It is kind of an art form to convince the umpire without annoying him.

    Statistics are for losers

To be honest, I think I am going to need to see some statistics before I take this seriously.

I can remember watching that WC and thinking I was watching Australia's next great bowler. Then again, I can also remember watching Mitchell Marsh and thinking that there is Australia's next great batsman. Oh well, he still has time.

It probably would but that is not very inspiring. The great sides win under all conditions and that is what I want to see. Admittedly, that is harder to do than it was 40 years ago.

I don't really care about the #1 ranking. That feels a bit artificial. Competence is not necessarily winning the series, just being competitive would be enough and eliminating the horrific batting collapses would be a start.

I want to see some sort of competence in sub-continental conditions before I get too excited.

I really thinking players should be made to wait on the umpire's decision now, particularly with the recent history in world cricket of match fixing. #walkingischeating
