Oh gagfc. Shades of that WACA test.

    Battle of the Infamous

Ganguly going out first round is basically a crime against humanity, but Harbhajan takes this one.

I think his point is that Ponting batted most of his career and had most of his success at three. In any event, you are right in saying most of the best batsmen in history have batted at three or four. But I'm not sure you are right in saying that their runs would be any less valuable if they...

    Comparing the great fielders

Pretty great record for Hobbs, but because there was no third umpire you can never really be sure if all of them were out. It is on this basis that I think we can safely exclude him from these discussions.

Actually scratch that, I was thinking of Con the Fruiterer.

Tbf I remember hearing about Doropoulos moving to Melbourne, too.

Why hasn't Doropoulos played for SA since last year's final. Handy player, and had a good game there.

I dunno how else you'd brand them, though. Slightly South Melbourne Renegades? Anything but the Stars, I guess.

Meh, I can't speak. I'm a Dogs supporter who has been in Melbourne for a sum total of two days.

Would you say people support the teams more because of the location or because of who is playing? I'd imagine that whichever Melbourne team has Shane Warne playing for it would probably have more fans, regardless of location.

Right, I guess that's fair enough. My point is that the BBL basically needs every advantage it can get, and I just think that it is shooting itself in the foot by not making the difference clearer.

But is it well-known that one is from Western Sydney and one from the Eastern Suburbs? I'm not convinced if you had two Perth teams called "Perth", and the only difference is that one was based on Balga and one was based in Subiaco that many people would appreciate the difference.

That's a rivalry that is almost exclusively carried by the Victory's support base, though. The Heart was a poor branding exercise, too, because billing another team from Melbourne was always going to be reliant on people "switching" from the Victory - at least initially. The Heart still only...

    *Official* Big Bash League 2012/13

The Melbourne and Sydney teams really have been an exercise in terrible branding. There's an article on Cricinfo saying how the BBL will no doubt be disappointed because they only got 15K to a derby. Well it isn't a derby. The organisers have given fans absolutely no reasons to support one side...
