Over 40 will do. He gets bonus points like Stewart does for keeping wicket and needing to score runs. He deserves a 40+ average.

While I wouldn't disagree at all with that I would say who is better? Also I think his slip catching has helped him stay in the team as well as he doesn't drop many.

I'd say the classic in recent times is Crawley. Very ordinary record for Kent and has played some match winning innings for England among his failures.

Who are England’s long-term all-rounder options after Stokes and Woakes?

Just he was feeling his groin a lot yesterday. No real time to recover between games.

Babar can't buy a run of late. Some fall for him.

Who are England’s long-term all-rounder options after Stokes and Woakes?

We don't have one so just go with what we have. Be interesting next week without Wood and possibly Woakes what we do.

Another game, another win. Fair play to Sri Lanka they fought really hard and the spinner is quality. This Smith kid though. Wow.

This is a sad summer of cricket. The 2 Surrey lads look good finds though. Tougher tests await down the line.

***Official*** England vs Sri Lanka 21st August-10th September 2024

That was a bit different though as Roy, Bairstow and then Buttler covered the opening slots in white ball cricket very successfully. This is like cutting off our nose to spite our face.

Well why isn't he involved? Can only be attitude not ability. I'd have him as attack leader over Woakes and leading the team in Pakistan where he did so well last time.
