I thought McDonald was assistant coach to Robertson with the Crusaders a few years ago (2017ish?) and they worked well together and won the title.

Yeah, it makes sense. I just don't like the complete lack of atmosphere at those grounds.

Obviously it couldn't stay in Bangladesh, but it's hard to be excited about the UAE as a host. I was hoping Zimbabwe's bid might be successful.

    Highlights of the games

Note that my 'like' for Sledger's post comes purely as an uncle who has seen a small amount of both. Can't imagine how actual parents endure the awfulness that is Blippi.

    Lowlights of the Games

The opposite for me. Tokyo was pretty hard to get excited about at times and IMO probably shouldn't have even happened in the midst of the pandemic, but Paris has more than made up for that - right up with Sydney, Beijing and London in terms of my favourite ones to watch and follow.

Andrews has been in unbelievable form in these Olympics - way beyond my expectations.

A crash looked kinda inevitable the way they bunched up going into those last few laps. Hopefully no harm done.

So good. Almost enough to make me like golf as an Olympic sport (but not quite). Stoked for both of them.

Yeah, completely devastated. Fair to say she's been through a bit in the last eight years (opting out of Tokyo etc). Hard to imagine how it feels to come up just short after clawing her way back to this level.

Fair enough, apologies to him in that case. But I still didn't really like the tone or the timing. He also said something about her being on a similar level to Mark Todd among NZ Olympians. I'm not sure how his five medals (two gold) quite compares.

And the Brit commentator just said something about 'family being on hold for now'. She's an eight-time Olympic gold medallist ffs.
