    The problem comes once they split the divisions again. They need to have some incentive, monetary or something for winning those two groups Having said that, there has been some fantastic cricket played, enjoyed watching the streams late into the evening and early mornings over the last two months.

    Unfortunately, a 5 over rain delay when Middlesex needed 74 off 13 overs stuffed it up for them. Handscomb got out on the re-start, and Gubbins holed out for 124 with 4 overs left, ended in a draw.

    Stevens only took 94 first-class Wkts in total by the age of 35. At present he has 565 wkts, so 471 since turning 35. Shame they hardly played at Canterbury yesterday. Kent were in a reasonable position to force a win, not now however.

    As an Australian I can say he is probably my favourite NZ cricketer. A match was never over until he was got out. Was surprised when I read this today, but at least he made the decision himself, and he wasn't pushed out.

    As a neutral, watching and listening to Gloucestershire's 10th Wicket partnership last night, it was around 1.15 A.M. in the morning when the match ended, that was what first-class cricket is all about. I don't think Dom Goodman will be batting at number 11 again, he looks more than useful.

    Eddie Paynter is a prime example for this thread. Good first-class average of 42.26 but at Test level averaged 59.23. Played 20 tests, should have played more.

    I believe I saw something on a BBC website that the most recent oldest player was Chris Balderstone in 1986. Opening the batting for Leicestershire v Sussex, 19-22 July 1986, he made 115 in the second innings. As he was born on 16th Nov 1940, it would have made him around 45 years & 247 days...
