And Liam Dawson keeps letting the selectors know he can bat and bowl.

    English Domestic Season 2024

Lets hope Worc stay up, would be great for the competition. Sussex winning over Derbyshire puts them now in a great position to be promoted, likely as champions.

Notts to sign him for next year then.

    Graham Thorpe dies aged 55

RIP. Jesus, he was 2 years younger than me. Fine player to watch, even when he was scoring runs against us. Saw his debut hundred at Trent Bridge in 1993.

    English Domestic Season 2024

ECB on a phone hook-up this morning about 3 very fine county championship finishes. Can't have that. The whisper is to get rid of outgrounds, no FC Cricket in May, June, July or August (Except having 5 tests at Lords during this period), starting the championship in January, with a Christmas Eve...

    English Domestic Season 2024

Ryan Higgins is a very good cricketer. I know he has played most of his cricket in Division 2, but there can't be many better all-rounders in England. I wonder if he is on the selectors radar at all.?

    English Domestic Season 2024

I know he's only playing T20 cricket for them, but I would have thought that Lancashire must have been close to asking Steven Croft to come and play to help out if they are that short. He could stand at slip if he didn't want to run around the field.

    Cricket books

I would recommend the 2009 "William Hill sports book of the year", Harold Larwood by Duncan Hamilton. It's nearly 400 pages(HB), goes through his entire career (50 pages on Bodyline alone), his Notts career and him moving to Australia to live. I actually bought my copy for 3 pounds at a charity...

Have you ever wanted someone to beat (Edit: or succeed against) the team you support?

Never wanted Australia to lose, but I always wanted VVS Laxman to score runs against us, which fortunately he did very often.

England players and selection discussion thread

If I was Anderson I would continue to play championship matches for Lancs after his last test for two reasons, 1 Lancs might need him to avoid relegation. 2 To show Keys & Co that his fitness record is far superior to any of the young bowlers coming through who can't stay fit for more than a...

Do England have ANY bowlers who have RELIABLE fitness, they seem to all have either niggles or not in great form.

    English Domestic Season 2024

No play at New Road for the second day out of 3. This ground really has problems as they have played everywhere else today, even at Bristol before they went off for rain before lunch.

    English Domestic Season 2024

Gloucestershire have just broken their 5th wkt partnership record that had been held since 1876. Surprisingly it was only 261 by W.G Grace & Moberley at Cheltenham v Yorkshire. Bracey & van Buuren the new holders.

No play at Worcester today due to a wet outfield.

    English Domestic Season 2024

Good to see a challenging declaration by Gloucestershire. Only setting Northants 558 to win. Northants, 144-2 at stumps (Procter 45no) Did they think they were bowling to "Bradman's Invincibles" or something. Should have declared when Bancroft got his hundred. They will be hoping the weather...

Joe Root plays so much domestic cricket so he would know obviously.

    English Domestic Season 2024

Rob Key on to the Somerset groundsman and probably asking the ECB to give them a 50 point penalty for a poor pitch.
