    When was Azharuddin forgiven?

PEWS, permission to retcon "Don't be Zohaib" to "Don't be Azhar"?

    When was Azharuddin forgiven?

The movie also seems to address his second marriage to an actress without his first wife's permission*. They'll probably also whitewash that fiasco in some manner. *It's legal in India cause he's Muslim, but nevertheless a dog act doing so without your first wife's go ahead.

Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

He's a dove in ICC circles and a hawk in BCCI circles. I don't like him, but I'd rather he was at the ICC than at the BCCI from an international cricket fan point of view.

He turned out to be the Reverse Flash, fredfertang. Many people did not see the twist coming.

Yeah I did. I'd call Manohar the most devious and political person to head the BCCI, but then I remember Pawar headed it too. I vomited into my mouth when I read the part about "his conscience not allowing him to stay on as BCCI chief" If "my conscience" is what we're calling the Supreme Court...

    When was Azharuddin forgiven?

Quite true, and absolutely irrelevant here. An integral component of contrition is repentance by accepting consequences due to him. Cronje did all he could to avoid the consequences. Actions speak louder than words read from a script, crocodile tears flowing down his cheeks.

    When was Azharuddin forgiven?

Cronje made a show of contrition, which is distinct from actual contrition. He struck an indemnity deal with prosecutors over the course of the Kings Commission. You know what's contrite? Not striking an indemnity deal. Accepting the full consequences of your actions. The word you're looking...

Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Ineligible, not unfit. He's also the latter, but unfortunately that's not what the court observed. Supposing Obama declared tomorrow that he's giving up the US Presidency (a powerful office) to go head the United Nations (a weaker office). That makes no sense. It isn't dodgy behaviour to take...

Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

It is dodgy, but not for the reason you're suggesting. He didn't quit the BCCI role so that he could take up the ICC chairmanship. He took up the ICC chairmanship because he was going to be barred from the BCCI role by the Supreme Court.

    When was Azharuddin forgiven?

hehehe, would have to be something reaalllyy stupid like voting him into parliament....

    When was Azharuddin forgiven?

Hey look on the bright side - at least we won't be voting him onto a list of greatest Indians like the Saffers did with Cronje.

    When was Azharuddin forgiven?

Don't forget when he tried to play the minority card.

    When was Azharuddin forgiven?

This. The scummy INC may have forgiven him, but I certainly haven't.

    RIP. Will be missed dearly.

Real talk: How come Vinod Kambli never played a test after the age of 23?

Poor Kambli. Sounds like a case of :naughty: mistaken for attitude issues.

What do you think of Virat Kohli?

On average, yes. But chances are there exist some batsmen who are better at attacking for reasons other than technology. It reflects poorly on the 80s crowd that they lack the grace to acknowledge those players.

  19. G.I.Joe

What do you think of Virat Kohli?

That's exactly the point. The hypothetical only makes sense with similar players, and the very fact that they are similar players makes it uninteresting because players of similar calibre and style would invariably tend to adapt similarly. The hypothetical becomes interesting only if that...

What do you think of Virat Kohli?

Dravid won't ever develop into a Gayle, but that's not concerned with era differences. Rahane plays in the same era as Gayle and he won't be him either. That's just a function of the type of batsmen they are. It's like saying that Lance Gibbs won't become a Bruce Reid if he played in the 80s...
