Cheering. Not a huge fan of Swanton, but that Dorries is ordinary, good to see him on drinks duty.

Says the bloke with the man crush on Phil Hughes... Seriously, it's fine to have an opinion, but you look like an absolute goose if it is prejudiced with pre-conceived ideas and half cooked hatreds.

Reckon S Clark is a smokey to come back into contention for one of the last few Tests - we need a seam bowler capable of building pressure which at the moment we don't have, plus he's played at the level before and has bowled very well this summer. Very curious to see what they do with the no...

North to make a hundred, Harris to prove himself as the best bowler in Australia by Test match end.

Yeah seems to be ahead for the 4 day and one day stuff - had a decent grade season last year and took his chance in the Shield at the end of last summer when Smith was injured. Looks like he's improved his batting a fair bit but still probably not as destructive as Smith, although his keeping...

Yep, you're spot on about the chances, because they had blokes like the Waugh twins, Ponting, Langer etc in front of them. I guess the thing was, as well, that a lot of those blokes didn't get a run simply because the incumbents rarely went long without performing. With the bat, we've gotta be...

Yeah you've got a point, but realistically, they are about as gooder players as the back-ups in the 1990's like Law, Lehmann etc were. The main difference in the cattle is that back then the best players we had were the best players in the world - that isn't the same case now unfortunately, as...

Have a bowl Punter! Or Katich, or erm, someone. Buy a wicket - what we are doing ain't working.

South Australia looking like a chance to sneak a win down in Hobart - would be a great comeback from being bowled out for nothing first dig.

Not true, the opposite actually. They were all dropped at some stage of their careers for differing (but generally extended) periods of time. All of the players mentioned were told to come back as better players, work on their weaknessess, and they did. The challenge is there for Hughes, but...

PS: Is Starc injured? Noticed Copeland on the field most of the day.

Reckon Katich would have batted 3 or 5 tbh - he's the least fussed about where he bats than the other blokes, plus he just needs time in the middle more than having to face the new ball. For the balance of the side he's the best equiped not to open, and think they spoke about him batting in the...

SA threw the kitchen sink at him season before last from memory, but he was getting a run then. Wondering if him playing grade cricket for half a season or something is an agreed part of his re-hab with Cricket NSW or something like that - makes no sense that a guy like Coyte got picked ahead...

Nah, Hauritz has been playing as a frontliner - Watson has very much been played as the 5th bowler. The way his batting has taken off means that it probably will never change from that either. Would be super suprised if you ever saw Watson-McDonald-2 other quicks as our Test attack.

Agreed re: Hopes-McDonald. It was more from watching the way they went about their games that I thought they'd both be better suited to the other formats better. Admittedly that isn't the case, but always found it an interesting one. Still suprised McDonald hasn't had a game in the shorter forms...

Last outstanding talent to come out of Qld with the bat was one A Symonds as a young punk. Was watching their Ryobi game vs Tassie pretty closely the other day, the commentators weere commenting on it also, but technically they all looked pretty poor and didn't fancy getting right behind it.

Yep, as gooder cricketer as Ronald is, his days as an Aussie cricketer are pretty much over unless Watson becomes injury-prone again. He'd probably only ever make a 5 man attack batting 7 in the Test side, and evidently they've gone a different direction with OD cricket. Always puzzled me to an...
