5th Test at The Oval, London

Slight over-reaction I think. Apart from a couple* of posts about the Australians’ gobbiness, my contribution was largely the same anodyne drivel that I usually churn out. But sorry if I’ve gone OTT. And yes there’s a number of gobby idiots on our team, and they should keep their mouths shut...

5th Test at The Oval, London

I get that. But it does so often happen that when there are rude pricks on the other team, that other team is Australia. Ask anyone around the world. You won’t see the same behaviour, to the same degree, from anyone else.

5th Test at The Oval, London

Stump mic evidence today has been quite revealing as to the genuineness of the new, “Spirit of Cricket”-embracing Australia team. It may be an unfortunate coincidence that gobby little shite Matthew Wade is one of those closest to the mic. But it does seem that they’re as twattish as they ever...

They won't bat tonight come what may.

Not expecting Archer to hang around here.

5th Test at The Oval, London

Even if we allow for 220 from Smith, as we must, the other 10 still need to get 160 odd between them. Seems unlikely.

5th Test at The Oval, London

Not a big fan of either celebration, TBH, but the disgraced former captain's shrug is probably the more irritating of the two.

And another great catch. Anything Smith can do...

5th Test at The Oval, London

Whoah fella. Let's calm it down. "Downhill skiing" - a pretty new expression to me - does seem a bit dismissive even if that's not what you intended.

5th Test at The Oval, London

Yes but TBF it follows 3 good knocks in seriously testing circumstances. Very nice if he got a hundred here.

5th Test at The Oval, London

Jeesh, the Oval looks good. Still can't believe they had a Test in ****ing Manchester in September. Keep the Tests down South where the summer doesn't end in mid-July.

    David Warner Fail thread

He's in wretched form and I'm slightly surprised he wasn't dropped for this Test, but there's no way they will or should drop him long-term. He's a proven Test player of serious quality in a position where Aus are seriously lacking. This is an issue of form, not ability. He's 32, and if he stays...

Apparently he told Ponting he hit it.

5th Test at The Oval, London

Lyon could've been a handful in the 4th innings on this pitch.

5th Test at The Oval, London

Christ, they should turn off the stump mic when Australia's in the field. Remarkable amount to say for themselves, for a bunch of almost entirely bog-average cricketers. And I don't really blame Bairstow for not taking Smith's word for the catch. Bit of work to do before this team's reputation...

5th Test at The Oval, London

Harris (49 runs from 5 digs) will be pleased to see Denly out after dropping him on 0.
