New Zealand odi team of the 90s, should've been world beators?

100 per cent it's not to get a rise out of people. I feel the topics are for genuine discussion, debate. The Kallis Vs Flintoff comparison is genuine. That thread is not to get a rise out of people. I genuinely felt that NZ had a good odi team in the 90s.

Mahmood, razzaq, Afridi Sohail, anwar, ijaz, Saleem m, Inzy, Yousuf, moin, latif, f Iqbal. Mushy, Arshad Khan. What a team it was with many options.

New Zealand odi team of the 90s, should've been world beators?

McMillan may have been in the side as he was a useful slow bowler. Cairns averaging 29 at number six is about par tbh. I remember his knock in Aus, hit four sixes, his hundred in the icc knock out 2000 trophy final. Astle, Harris, McMillan would also bowl.

Maybe swap Spearman for Horne. I was generally talking about the whole of the 90s. New Zealand did get something in the icc knockout trophy win 2000 as your mentioned.

With a line up of: Astle Spearman Twose Fleming McMillan Cairns Harris Parore/Germon Nash Allot Doull Horne Larson Morrison D Patel Hart Young Powerful batting line up, dynamic batting and formidable bowling options. They made 288 in the QF 96 WC, semi final of the 99 and 92 WC.

Imagine an attack of Wasim, Waqur, M Zahid, Saqlain/Akthar

Looking at the footage of M Zahid, it does seem like he had extreme pace. Played in Aus, Vs Ind. Imagine that bowling attack of Pak!

    Kallis Vs Flintoff

Id go for Kallis too. Although in odis, Flintoff would be useful.
  10. J

    Kallis Vs Flintoff

Flintoff's bowling is far superior and his bowling would give him an edge I feel. Both a good bowler for tests and odis. I remember his spell against Ponting and Kallis.

    Kallis Vs Flintoff

Kallis, who plays the anchor role, genuine stroke maker, can bat for your life. Flintoff, an attacking batsman who adds a lot of value being a genuinely good pace bowler. Kallis a genuine number three test batsman. As an all rounder, who would you pick and who is better

    Cairns Vs Flintoff

Both aggressive, attacking batsman. Both have played brilliant innings. Cairns a useful bowler and Flintoff himself can make it into the team as a pace bowler. His Ashes 05 exploits is legendary. Who is better in tests and odis. Who would you pick?

    VVS vs Inzamam

Against McGrath, Warne, Gillespie, lee Steyn, Pollock Murali etc And yes Inzy faced the same bowlers in a tougher batting era.

    VVS vs Inzamam

I picked VVS, he did well in Aud, against Australia. However Inzy has the address advantage of being a superior odi batsman. Played some great odi innings. Inzy was a match builder.

Imran Khan vs Kapil Dev (ODIs)

Imran found inzy, Wasim, Waqur. Fast tracked them in the team.
  17. J

Imran Khan vs Kapil Dev (ODIs)

Both WC wins were epic. Imran had to win against Aus, Sri L/Zim and NZ. NZ in the semi and Eng in the final.

    Best Attack

The top 3 pace bowlers of all time in order.

Imran Khan vs Kapil Dev (ODIs)

It is a tough one. Kapil Dev a genuine number seven, who could hit a knock, hit a quick knock. A valuable pacer too. On the other hand, Imran was a genuine middle order batsman and a great fast bowler. I feel Imran edges it. Tough call, both very valuable.
  20. J

Imran Khan vs Kapil Dev (ODIs)

I sense Imran was a better middle order batsman, a world class bowler and Kapil was a useful odi bowler, a batsman who can bat at number 7, play a cameo. Imran
