    ***Official*** English Football Season 2019-20

We can tell a bit from Social Media though, the players who are seen interacting with each other, training ground footage, comments in interviews etc. Of course its picking through propaganda, but there's enough there to get a general feel that Zlatan had a positive impact in the dressing room...

I don't mind it as a very much plan B approach for when our attacks being stifled out of a game. Rashford/Martial/Greenwood sorta offer much of the same, and those days where passing and running it through a well organized defence isn't working. Sometimes debasing the game with 'toss it up to...

https://www.football365.com/news/ince-tells-man-utd-to-sign-no-brainer-alternative-to-mandzukic Now I've aired some pretty ropey opinions over the years, and always stuck to my guns. But when I find an opinion I hold being aired by Paul Ince then I know I've got to back down an apologize....

Is that when he was in Germany managing one of the biggest clubs in world football, or when he was enjoying a year out with the promise of complete control over hundreds of millions to shape the City dynasty? Might as well have tried resurrecting Herbert Chapman at that point.

Why aren't there more spinner all rounders?

Look, I accept that some blokes technique is limited to just banging it in as fast as possible and hope it works, the rest of us figured that going all day and hitting the spots that others can't brings far more pleasure. If 19 fall for us in the space of 5 days, then can you blame us for...

Why aren't there more spinner all rounders?

Yeah, as a kid I figured I had two choices A) Run half the length of the field 120 times a day just to see it nick off down to the boundary B) Save myself the effort and not suffer 7 stress fractures a season. So I chose C) and stood behind the stumps instead. Though when I was bowling during...

People here are forgetting their age when they first learned about competitive cheese rolling

Why aren't there more spinner all rounders?

***** is the hero CW needs. I'd invite the pace bowlers to 'come at me', but most are currently in rehab for their stress fracture on their spine.

I can sorta watch Golf now if its the last round of a major, I appreciate the pressure on the players now which passed me by as a kid. Likewise I can deal with Boxing if its a big fight - again its the human element rather than the spectacle that's attracting me in

Why aren't there more spinner all rounders?

You've also got the trope of the better batsmen also bowling some decent spin (Smith, Root, Williamson jump to mind). Whilst you wouldn't call them all rounders, they are bowling options on a pitch thats spinning, and can act almost like a 2nd all rounder to complement the guy at 8. Maybe its...

How many books have you read?

Probably just Athers autobiography and an old history of Lancs CCC I got from the library as a kid. Beyond the stats side of things (I'd get lost in old scorecards in a Wisden), I tend not to read sports books unless it's someone I find really interesting. Probably read about 10 across all sports

England players and selection discussion thread

Ah, if there's one thing England selectors have learned over the years, it's not to pick a Lancs spinner too soon......

Knowing Pep it'll be something completely unfathomable like finding out David Silva is Baresi reincarnate.

Old Traffords the same, because both stadiums are about 90% season tickets, and getting people to part with them is impossible. They get passed down generations. United had an amnesty about 10 years ago so people could put the season ticket in their name, as the average age of a ticket holder...

When it comes to tackles in the box, has he ever taken a moment and thought to pull out at the last minute?

    European Championship Qualifying

Depends what N. Ire can do to them. Snatch some points at home they could make it difficult. Certainly winning all 4 games against the groups lower teams has put them in a fantastic position.

4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

Update, I lied about the rain, because my window faces east. Just looked across the corridor and it's definitely still raining. I reckon you might get an early tea and play after though, doesn't look like there's much in store rain wise after this batch.

Sadly all cricket related updates have been suspended until the MD has left the room again (not that I can't watch the cricket, its just he's watching it over my shoulder limiting CW activities)
