Clarke declaring at 239/9 overnight on Day 1 in the 2012 Hyd test and India going on to score 500 plus and win by an innings.

Gill will take a lot of confidence from his swashbuckling 100 at the same venue last week. The outfield is lightning quick and the ground dimensions small. Basically a venue where toss will give the team a good advantage.

He could theoretically play out maidens after maidens for two days. Or like a world class batsman, analyze the percentages and select the shots. To repeat myself, a sweep off an off spinner who is bowling over the wicket and targeting the edges is not the most riskiest thing in the world...

I agree that the middle and lower orders did commit mistakes, but did they have any game to play otherwise ? I suspect. Carey has literally no other go to shot than the sweep. And Renshaw is quite underconfident as a batter and was done in by deception in length by Ashwin. All big wickets -...

Yeah but what made Smith go for that shot ? The nice set up by Ashwin preceding it. Ashwin was bowling around the wicket to Smith and Labu when the former came into bat, and just the over before the wicket, turned to over the wicket. There was a close shout vs Labu who went sweeping just before...

Indian bowlers were tripe on Day 2 evening, but they bowled well on the morning of Day 3. Yes the dismissals look bad when seen in highlights and suggest harakiri but ignores the control and setup that made the batsmen go that route. Except Carey who is **** and doesn't have any other shot.

    Question on ban announcements

Every time I visit this forum after a break, the activity seems to have gone down. Given the trigger happy lifelong mods with their silly biases, not too surprising though. This site has become a relic of what is was in the past

Thats really rough. Takes some massive commitment to profession with such a matter hanging in the background of one's mind. Cannot imagine what Cummins went through while deciding to board the plane to India with such grave news in his mind. Reminded of Siraj who was In a similar situation...

Ash Anna back with a video. What all hats he wears! Clean succinct explanation of what went right and wrong in 2nd test. As always he seemingly gives away the reason but not really.

End of the road for Wagner ? Had his good time but at 37 not sure he'll get another season in Nz colors.

    Mathew Hayden vs Virender Sehwag

Hence my remark. I find his glove.work, especially standing upto the stumps nothing short of sterling these days. Gilly kept most of his career in Australia which is regarded as among easiest places to keep. Totally contrasting with the demands of keeping in the Subcontinent. For another...

Okay. Still the risk is obvious. This is some workload on a finger spinner who's never done this before. Credit where due, the dude has done very well and has not lost his shape and bearings.

    One Test or Series Wonders

Wow, that's new info for me. Gavaskar screwing India with a slow mo innings wonder how this went under the radar. Wierd given how well Indian openers batted in first innings.

Yeah and that's what makes it even worse for Aus. Without Pant, Aus had the chance to bowl at one of worst performing indian top order in India, and yet the bowlers promptly shot themselves in the feet by giving up runs to Axar, Shami and Ashwin.
