*Official* England in the West Indies 2024

Realistically he isn't batting higher than five in the ODI team and maybe even 6-7 but he's shown he's capable of batting maturely. He's a definite upgrade on the Mo of the last few years.

*Official* New Zealand tour of India 2024

Feels like a lot of test sides are in transition mode, India definitely being one of them.

You don't even need LL to be consistent. As long as another of your top six bowls, he could even bat at seven (which is a waste but he's a genuine all rounder).

But if you're not selecting Root for this tour, pick someone in that would.

Just can't rotate the strike. Absolute killer.

Maybe but it's more likely he'll get out to a big shot because his partner is going at a sub-50 SR. Another dumb part of this selection is that Livingstone, who has lots of international experience now, is going in after two absolute novices who shouldn't even be out here.

And that's two innings Sam Hain might have scored runs in.

I think Salt has to be persevered with but this is a worrying stat That's just the sixth time in 24 ODIs that Phil Salt has emerged from the first 10 overs... West Indies vs England, West Indies vs England, 2nd ODI...

Cox has played five LA games iirc.

Garbage performance so far, hopefully they get thrashed.

A genuinely decent cricketer and guy who England treated incredibly shabbily.

Bethell is from Barbados, that must be the logic.

*Official* England in the West Indies 2024

I think I'm more despondent about the national team than I've ever been. And I've seen them be absolute cack-dreadful. At least you felt they were (more or less) picking the best players available. They were just not good enough - which is fine, I didn't expect mediocre players to be...

Highest ODI run scorer in the side too (around 800 runs).

Best just to accept there's no logic and it's all based on vibes and the new regime bounce is petering out.

Jack Carson? Yeah I reckon he should be in contention given his season, and he's a decent enough bat too.

Liam Dawson. An answer so obvious the golfing guys never see it.

Cox didn't get keeping opportunities at Kent because they had Ollie Robinson but more than that, "Bilbo" would play in t20 tournaments then fly home, walk back into the side, play with zero interest and score few runs, and deny the young players chances.

I don't get why James Rew wasn't selected. A young batter who can keep, with eight FC hundreds, playing for one of the best sides in the country.
