    I'm a pretty fast walker. I wonder if I had 5 years of training whether I could have done reasonably at the old walking. I mean, I'd still be a complete embarrassment to my country because I'd be doing the speed walking ffs, but maybe I couldda been a contender!

    Cricket is at the next Olympics, I think? As for Poll Dancing, I think we've seen plenty of that recently to make it an Olympic sport. Russia are masters of it and Venezuela are having a decent show too.

    They talk too much - no space for the sport to breathe. Watching the women's mountain biking yesterday, the two commentators ceaselessly talked for 90 minutes. About 10% of that was insightful and the remaining 90% was at best banal at worst complete bullshit.

    Enjoyed watching the full replay of the women’s kayak slalom. The Australian put in a perfect run, heaping the pressure on the defending champ who broke under the strain and missed a gate. Well worth watching.

    This tournament is really a bit shy of List A standard. Looking at the Essex / Warks scorecard, the whole Essex attack is youth/second tier standard. It’s nearly 2nd XI cricket. I shudder to think of the standard of any concurrently played 2nd XI games.
