    Wisden's Cricketers of the Century

Warne is one of the greatest bowlers ever & his record speaks for himself. So I reckon that he deserves to be on that list. Though Tendulkars acheivements would of been worthy (especially his ODI record) of selection too.

    Wisden's Cricketers of the Century

Sir Donald Bradman Sir Garfield Sobers Sir Jack Hobbs Shane Warne Sir Vivian Richards Do you all agree with Wisden's choices for their five cricketers of the century or should someone else be in that list?

    Nathan Bracken

Nathan Bracken's ODI record to date is good & he is unlucky IMO that he has not got a contract, though its great to see Kaspa get a contract.

    Congratulations

:confused1 This has absolutely got nothing to do with Murali's equaling the most test wickets ever! :offtopic:

    Target 400

When I heard Hookesy first say that the match could be won in one day I couldn't help  Though you just never know, perhaps a test may finish in one day in the future :lookaroun

    Target 400

Going by Gilchrist's career Test strike rate, if he opened he could have 401 runs in say 487 balls. Very unlikely though.

    Target 400

Steve Waugh was the captain then & I don't think Ricky Ponting would let anyone bat for that long. The Australians would want to wrap up the games in the least possible time.

    the big 1-5-0-0

Congrats to CW on 1500 members. I came here merely by accident in late October 2003 after I was looking though Google for a cricketing article. Though I joined and I haven't looked back. CW a great place to talk about cricket and despite there being differing opinions on things...

Which team was better? Windies of Early 80s or the current Aussie Team?

Richards opening would of been the best choice with Chanderpaul moving down to No.3 IMO.

    Target 400

400 will not be broken for a long time. Even with Australia touring Zimbabwe, Australia would rather go for a win over players setting individual records & thats the way the game should be played :)

Which team was better? Windies of Early 80s or the current Aussie Team?

Well the general run rates in both Test & ODI cricket have increased because nearly every batsman these days is willing to attack. Even the likes of Justin Langer & Mark Butcher are these days more attacking. Defensive batsmen like Aakash Chopra are less common these days then in the 80's. So I...

Which team was better? Windies of Early 80s or the current Aussie Team?

You have to have something to measure ones performance & stats is a great in that regards. As for the comparison its self, yes that's more to form opinions. I don't think the standard of bowling today is poor at all. You are vurtually insulting the likes of Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne, Shaun...

Which team was better? Windies of Early 80s or the current Aussie Team?

The 15 over fielding restriction rule was around in the 80's. Richards would probablly of had the same SR today IMO.

Which team was better? Windies of Early 80s or the current Aussie Team?

This Australian ODI side is full of talent & IMO I reckon they could of still succeded in the 80's against the WI.

Which team was better? Windies of Early 80s or the current Aussie Team?

This Australian ODI side can play a very attacking brand of ODI cricket because they have the allround talent to do so. Richards is the only West Indian who can match this Australian side for Strike Rate, the other West Indies ODI players never scored as quick as this Australian side. You say...

Which team was better? Windies of Early 80s or the current Aussie Team?

You have got to be kidding. This Australian ODI side (since Ponting being ODI captain in 2002) is the best ever in the history of ODI's. This side completely dominated the 2003 World Cup & were undefeated. The West Indies in the 80's were a good ODI side and yes they did win the World Series...

Australian ODI batsmen (past & present)

Michael Bevan Dean Jones Mark Waugh Adam Gilchrist Ricky Ponting These IMO are my picks out of all Australian ODI batsmen. Michael Bevan: He is the perfect person to have in your side if you were in trouble. His ability to chase a target, get two's when only run is really possible. He is one...
