*Official* Pakistan in New Zealand

Whatever it takes!!!
That was a bit of an earlier time. Pakistan origin players are not picked in Ipl anymore.
Pretty sure Adil was playing even last year or the year before that. Moeen too. Tahir is not picked but is always in the auctions. They dont allow Pak players but Pak origin players have been playing all the time.

Adil and Moeen weren't born in Pakistan, Abbas was and it probably makes a big difference visa-wise.
Tahir was, though. And he was playing till very recently. I dont think its as big a deal. The visa thing does take longer but IPL teams are well aware of that.

I would think the rule of Pakistani origin applies just as much to Moeen and Adil as it would to Abbas. And its only about the longer time for visa processing anyways. My point is I dont think that would be any reason for IPL teams to not pick him.

Don't get me wrong he's a handsome young bloke, but when you're grading on Rachin's scale everyone else just kinda fades into the background.

Some praise for NZC:

Abbas Snr cannot speak highly enough of the support from NZC and Wellington. "The way NZC looked after him and put resources around him is unbelievable," he says. "We can't thank them enough. He went into their development squad when he was 16.

"They put all their resources around him so he can improve his game and get better. NZC are not only interested in their skills, but also [ensure] their studies and environment are okay. It's a 360-degree secure environment they develop around their young players. And it's so pleasant for parents like myself to see how a cricket board has such an amazing way of developing players and making them professionals. In addition, Cricket Wellington also put all their resources since he moved from Auckland and they helped him in every possible way."

While a lot is made out of (and usually wrongly) the smaller player pool and the competition of other sports that NZC faces, I do think their desperation in wanting to keep the talents they identify is a major reason their team has become this good. Players unions esp. the current international (lol) one, can make a million demands but this board seems to know how to exactly take care of the players they do identify and keep the equation harmonious enough that they really feel a connection in playing for that team.

It can very easily become a band thrown together but they ensure there is more than that at the heart of these players and this team. Kudos to everyone who is involved in NZC in such activities for that.

This is a big part of why Stead is so reluctant to make changes. He knows how strong the team culture is and is worried that too many changes, or even changes made too soon, risks diluting or damaging that culture. Not saying he's made smart choices, but you can definitely see where he's coming from.

Yeah its a bit understandable as all it takes is just one bad egg to ruin this for the whole system.
