It's very very close as far as their primes are concerned. Both consistent and with longevity. Can make a case for either.
But Sachin was a teen prodigy, McGrath was not. Sachin pushed the horizons and possibilities of batsmanship then in a way McGrath did not. That gives him the edge as far as I am concerned.
