I don't give a tinker's damn what convicted thief Darrel Hair and a pack of racists within Australia's cricket establishment had to say about the legality of Murali's action.

Once the rule in the ICC was fixed to allow for an objective ruling across all players, instead of being vulnerable to subjective interpretations of racist gatekeepers, Murali's action was found to be legal, and cricket has been all the better for its reforms from the dark ages into modernity.
Well done. You didn't miss out on any of the brainless tropes retailed by the over sensitive, jingoistic cricket fan.

You might want to review that comment about Hair before its brought to his attention.

I'm not really across the Info icon as an alternative to the Like button. I mean what extra information do people want? I can tell people the amount of runs each of the main English bowlers conceded to Bradman and would dig them out if that's what posters would like. So for example Larwood's figures v Bradman are 5 wickets for 324 runs at an average of 65. The discrepancy between his bodyline average against his average when bowling normally is quite stark. When bowling bodyline his Bradman average is 29. Without it's 209. No wonder Jardine felt as if he had to do something.
The info button usually means someone thinks you gave given good info already. I've very occasionally seen it used as a post giving insight onto a person's perspective.

The level of respect Ashwin gets in these polls is

150 Test match wickets away at 30 by Anonymous = Ewww
150 Test match wickets away at 30 by Ravichandran Ashwin = Ooooh
150 Test match wickets at 30 away from home isn't "bad" by any stretch. We just have crazy expectations. That is far above replacement level for a bowler. Then you have to include everything he does being one of the most dominant home bowlers in the history of the game.

There is also a small matter of Ashwin averaging 25+ with the bat overseas. Considering that India's batting has been at its weakest in living memory in the past decade or so, a highly valuable cricketer away from home too. Picking Umesh Yadav above him in the last WTC final was brainless stupidity.

Hope he stays fit to have a great tour down under and improve his SENA record before drawing curtains on a great career.

Whatever it takes!!!
Ashwin was arguably the best bowler for his team in a series win in Australia. Ill keep obnoxiously screaming about this till the end of time. No other spinner of the last half century or so can say that. **** salty low iq Australian posters. Losers imo.
Also bowled a match winning spell in the one test he did play in 2018 that we won as well.

Australia is Ashwin's best touring SENA country imo.

He had a hard time in 2011-12 and 2014-15 which spoiled his averages.

In 2018-19, without his partnership with Pujara (and those 6 wickets with the ball), India would not have won the Adelaide test.

In 2020-21, he had the wood on Smith that diminished his output, took 12 wickets @27 in the series, and in spite of a bad back, had that epic blockathon with Vihari that secured an improbable draw in Sydney with just an injured Jadeja and the tailenders left in the hut. Can't really ask for more. His overall average of 42 there hardly does any justice to his impact.

On the other hand, he has been a bit below par in England regardless of averaging 28 there.

Averages in individual countries don't tell much without proper context, do they ?

Feel like he's been an improved bowler for overseas conditions for a while now and would do very well if given a full series to grow into. He should have made a play for the captaincy a long time ago and become unrestable that way...as opposed to being the **** that watches from the bench while Jadeja ****s his...umm ATG creds.

So Ashwin is better than an average spinner away from home. Cool
An bowling average for off spinners is around 34; I would definitely say averaging 30+ away is quite better than average. Verity himself averages 34+ in Australia, the only strong away team and around 30 in Saffa. His away average is totally standing on his performance in India against a pretty weak batting side.

Since 2015 I think Ashwin averages like 25 outside of India
Yep. 129 wickets in 31 tests @24.93 on tour since the poor series down under in 2014-15.

It is only SA where he has really struggled.

Overall in this period, he has taken 397 wickets in 76 tests @21.67. At home it is 268 wickets @20.10 which is not a massive difference from his overall record in this time. That is a full ATG career in itself.

The point is other than Murali and Warne who have gaping holes in their records (in the case of Murali arguably larger than Ashwin), the fact that we kind find any modern spinners with better records than Ashwin says it all. And throwing in Laker, Verity is laughable because it’s not like they had to play across the diversity of conditions

Maybe someday when Ashwin retires some other team will have the temerity to draw a test series in India. Until then the evidence in his favor is the winning.
