Been reading some of the 09 threads to kill time tonight, amazing how many of the perceptions have changed. The Aussie XI isn't all that different but the people's opinions on it is. Although maybe that it's not much different is the problem.

Same with us though. Before the 09 Ashes, Prior was regarded as a liability and everyone was topping Ravi for big runs.
Yeah, I figured that; I just couldn't quite get my head around how I'd get that data without actually copying every complete scorecard ever.

A combination of the link I gave you the last message, the bowling version of it and a list of every single Test result, which I could also find on StatsGuru, would probably be enough for me to give you what you need. Probably. I'll have think about it post-sleep. :P
    (continued from last message)
It does the same thing for every decade against every team. All the framework's there for the batting too; I just haven't copied all the StatsGuru stuff into place yet. I'm actually thinking that I might be better off copying all 394 pages of this instead though as it'd give me more accuracy and allow me to do different things. Could do the same with the bowling. The opposition and date is listed on the table so I could still apply the same formula to it all.

I can't get my head around how we could combine StatsGuru and my amateur programming skills to do what you want to right now, but that might be because I've been up for about 30 hours, so I'll have a think about it and get back to you. :P
Probably not the right data for that, unfortunately.
What I have is hundreds and hundreds of StatsGuru tables saved into Notepad, which I've created a software program to pick through and apply standardising operations to.

For example I have a file Called "BowlVAustralia1960s.txt" which contains the records of every single bowler who bowled to Australia in the 1960s, copied from StatsGuru. What the program does at the moment is go through it and multiply all the runs conceded in that file by 30.02 divided by whatever Australian batsmen averaged in the 60s (33 or so IIRC) and then add it to the overall player stats function I have. (TBC next message)
Man, I waited a few days but your lack of post in the tennis thread after your boy Melzer beat Nadal is disappointing to say the least.

Hey man, just a quick question, would you recommend Manchester Uni to somebody who is clueless as to where they want to go?
He quoted the same post of yours twice to argue with two different sentences that you posted within it. In the Ponting V Murali thread. He got all upset by you saying bowlers are more important.

I mean it's fair enough not to agree, a lot of people wouldn't, but his reaction was hilarious, clearly just because it was posted by you

Seriously, where does all the aggro between you two stem from?
    Hey mate,

Was wondering if you could spare a few seconds to complete my survey. Would be much appreciated.
