    *Official* Pakistan in New Zealand

He'll be in the frame any which way thanks to the IPL experience and the fact that he bowls SLA as well. Looks like Neesham grabbed a few wickets and did the job at slip too, but the batting returns suggest it's time to move on. Agree with @Fuller Pilch - Chapman and Conway should be in...

Yeah so too DeFreitas hitting McDermott for 22 in an over, Gough's hat trick and Steve Waugh not farming strike against the tail so England could defend 174 at the MCG. I'd certainly put the last 2 Ashes series down under in the unmemorable category though.

    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

Yeah I think the lesson was learned from that game, seeing the Dubai surfaces they wisely decided to stack the side with the spinners. (Obviously helps when there are so many good spinners to choose from)

    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

I think winning the toss in this game was a huge slice of luck, it more-or-less compensated for the loss of Henry. India batting first would have probably meant a comfortable win instead of a reasonably close game. NZ's problem in these tournaments in my view, is that they absolutely refuse to...

Yeah, having Mahanama at 7 was unprecented. And it did pay off in that semifinal, think he scored a half century and watching on TV you could clearly see how much it was turning and how tough chasing would be on that pitch.

*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

I'm a little concerned about the pace bowling depth in white-ball, an over-reliance on Henry who is 33 now. There are options of course. O'Rourke has good quick-bowling attributes but the coaching staff need to work out what the best use of him is, across formats. Sears seemed pretty guileless...

    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

Correct. Also, someone made the valid point that guys Mitchell and Phillips tend to read spin off the pitch and not the hand. In conditions like these and/or with this quality of bowling, it limits your scoring options especially if you're in rebuild mode. Sure, can be critical of Mitchell for...

    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

In theory yes, but given they’ve played all over the subcontinent in the last couple of years I think NZ missed quite a few tricks in squad selection and both the India games. A specialist spinner instead of one inexperienced pacer too many, not selecting Conway etc. and for a side that prides...

Yes, but most of the bigger names will be 35+ then. Lots of CW discussions to be had on that 😂

    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

Possibly a big tournament swansong for some of the Indian players - Rohit, Kohli, Jadeja, Shami(?) - if yes, a satisfying way to bow out. Maybe the last big tournament for a few NZers too; guess Kane and a few others might make it to WC 2027. Looks like yet another whiteball final loss, can...

Congratulations India! Putting the off-field nonsense aside, best team in the tournament by far. Great to see the use of spin as a weapon.

Also the field placing. Can recall Vettori really squeezing the Saffers with men in the circle in that 2011 QF, needed that sort of approach.

    Final – India v New Zealand – Sunday, March 9 – Dubai

Once Henry was out injured I think NZ were pretty much resigned to playing with 10. Though not selecting Duffy is pretty damning for the man considering he’s been permanent backup for a while now.

This would be worth the gamble I think. Pace alone won’t win it.

True. While he’s in we may see one Ravindra over, that’s it. And here it comes!
