    Yeah, there's a definite similarity there. Although, in fairness to The Housemartins, they were almost exact contemporaries of The Smiths, so it could be both bands influencing the other or even just shared infleunces.

    If you like that sort of jangly guitar pop sound you should def check out Prefab Sprout and Aztec Camera too.

    Hull's self-described fourth best band. Paul Heaton used to live near me, in fact. He was in The Beautiful South by then tho.

    I'm always a sucker for the dark lyrics/pretty tune combo and they excell. Build is quite beautiful.
