  • Especially as some people who don't understand the context could take away that I'm homophobic or something in any way. It could have professional consequences.
I need you to delete that pic. I don't care if you make fun or post the pics that I post, but I don't need it modified or displayed in a way that will get it disseminated beyond the forum.
Ah right, I knew you had issues with politics (Badrinath!!!) didn't realise they ran all the way back to the past and that people still have issues with praising people in hindsight.
Who was the last name on your list out of interest? I have more if needs me.
Hit me up through Gmail if you'd rather keep them private
Yeah, I thought as much. Wasn't too clued up on the ATIndianXI though, I know you have heaps of middle order guns of the last 20 years and his average isn't particularly flattering but there was some high praise for him online.
Other names for you are Michael Clarke, Stephen Fleming and Amiss :)
I dare you to start off your personal statement for residencies with that. It will be glorious.

Or say, "I cure people with empathy, not "scientific jargon". Note: I actually heard a homeopathic practitioner use that line.
Well I'm not sure I'll end up doing a PhD...I'd have to fall in love with a project.

Plus I bet I'd spend a lot more time indoors in med school due to exams and such, rather than in grad school.
You'll have all the time in the world to talk to yourself about quantum mechanics as you keep track of bowel movements, urine outputs, drip rates and do all the leg work to and from the lab tbh :p
Also, you can't boss me around. I will pulverize you with my infinite knowledge of science. Just because I can't talk about this patient doesn't mean it's irrelevant to talk about quantum mechanics.
As for MD/PhD program - there is no way in hell you can do PhD level work while going to med school - it involves thinking instead of memorizing after all :p.

It's generally an additional three years. You do your first two years of classroom work, then spend three years or so doing PhD research, and then go back and finish your last two years of clinical work (so seven instead of four). In terms of where - I have no idea and probably won't until March when I get a list of all my offers.
There is no real age factor in the US. I know someone who is in 44, and just starting a seven year long surgery residency..... Well I shouldn't say it doesn't exist but I don't think it'll really be held against you unless you're like 60 and about to retire...On the other hand you do need to well being a non-citizen. The average score is ~220 in the US, and you probably need to beat that, and add a few points if you don't have research experience (although what you're doing counts, I would think). In the US, you generally get 3-5 weeks off to study for it at most schools (but of course our curriculum is geared towards it as well)....but you have infinite time really...so don't take the exam until you're scoring 230ish. Obviously eventually you'll get there.
Haha that was real fun too. I've done stuff in about six subjects (including Astronomy, etc). The frog research was visual field analysis (also no applications to humans). The plant research was on cryptochromes and isolating certain genes. I'm taking a bit of a break. I start med school in August. I'll enjoy myself until about May, and then probably do a bench research project for three months prior to school starting.
Well it sounds like you're in clinical research not bench. Sux-2-b-u.

Best time of my life was when I was doing work where no one bothered me about any clinical relevance. I was doing some work on plant DNA. It was glorious.
