England players and selection discussion thread

Bairstow can have no complaints but Smith barely keeps for Surrey so I'd have gone for Robinson.

Congratulations to all Indian Team Supporters

India were clearly the best team in the competition and deserved to lift the trophy. Their batting is strong. They've got the best spin attack and the best seamer. Bumrah is in the top few white ball bowlers of all time.

    2nd semi-final: India vs England | Providence

It was a pretty humiliating exit for England in what was an underwhelming WC, following on from last year's 50 over debacle. It goes without saying that Matthew Mott needs to go. Whether Buttler should survive as captain is a more difficult question. On that pitch against India it was...

    2nd semi-final: India vs England | Providence

Advantage India but it's not an unbeatable score. Much will depend on how we manage the Indian spinners and we'll need to bat well to get the runs, particularly as our batting is a touch light with Curran at 7. This is where we really miss Stokes.

    2nd semi-final: India vs England | Providence

The big mistake the ICC made was having a WC in this part of the world at this time of year. As ever, money talks, and as we know it's all about trying to grow the game in the USA. The whole tournament has been a bit of a shambles. Having no reserve day for a SF is laughable. And the...

    2nd semi-final: India vs England | Providence

Either England or Afghanistan have to make the final. Imagine an India v S Africa final - which side would choke the most - would be a damn close call.

Happy "Australia are getting knocked out" Day

That will probably happen - it always does for the Aussies. Yes they've had some great sides but they're a seriously spawny side as well. Come on India.

Match #51- Australia vs India - Super Eights, Gros Islet, St Lucia, June 24 - Group 1

I'm really surprised Cam Green hasn't been picked ahead of David. He's a better bat than David, and obviously also bowls if required. Plus he's an absolutely brilliant fielder.

Do tailend runs affect your cricketer rating?

With tailenders it's not just about the runs they score, it's also about how many runs are scored at the other end whilst they're batting. Also if a tailender hangs about, even without many runs, it can wear the opposition down a bit. So Warne's batting is worth more than 15 runs per game...

    The CHAMPS are HERE

As you'd expect, the Champs have sauntered in to the semi finals leaving the rest to fight for the other 3 players. We're coming in to form at the right time and nobody will fancy drawing us.

Match #49- Super Eights, England vs USA (D), Kensington Oval, Barbados-- June 23rd- Group 2

Brutal hitting from Buttler and a superb all round display from England to make the SFs. 1st team to make it through and we're looking good.

Match #49- Super Eights, England vs USA (D), Kensington Oval, Barbados-- June 23rd- Group 2

USA simply not good enough against the better teams. Our spinners strangled them in the middle overs and Jordan finished them off with 4 in 5 balls. Somehow we've got ourselves into an unbelievable position - needing to get the runs in just over 18 overs to make the semi finals.

Match #49- Super Eights, England vs USA (D), Kensington Oval, Barbados-- June 23rd- Group 2

Scotland apart, we've been good against the associate sides and obviously we need that to continue today. Win and win well and a pretty unlikely SF spot should be ours.

Match #48- Super Eights, Australia vs Afghanistan (N), Arnos Vale, Saint Vincent-- June 22nd- Group 1

An historic win for the Afghans and really well deserved. A strange performance all round from the Aussies. They won the toss and bowled, didn't play Starc and their fielding was below par. The Starc omission seemed odd. Yes Agar bowled well but the game was won with the Afghans opening...

Match #42- Super Eights, West Indies vs England (N), Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium, Saint Lucia-- June 19th- Group 2

That's exactly my point. But he doesn't get the recognition that the Indian spinners get or Rashid Khan or Zampa for example.
